Zayn Malik teases new album with surprise songs during Las Vegas residency

Zayn Malik treated the Las Vegas crowd to the live debut of several songs from his upcoming solo album.

Zayn Malik has offered fans their first real glimpse of his next solo era, debuting brand-new material and confirming his long-awaited fifth studio album will arrive “pretty soon”.

The former One Direction star opened his new residency at Dolby Live on Tuesday (20.01.26), kicking off the Sin City run with an unreleased song, the title of which he chose to keep under wraps. According to Variety, the track carried a “soft energy” and featured a chorus that nodded to the R’n’B influences that defined his debut solo album Mind of Mine.

Moments later, Zayn sent longtime fans into a frenzy by performing She — a deep cut from Mind of Mine that had never been played live before — marking one of the most talked-about surprises of the night.

Addressing the crowd early in the set, Zayn confirmed new music is imminent.

He said: “I’ve been in the studio a little bit. I got a new record coming for you guys pretty soon. I’m really excited about that… I’ll be playing some songs tonight for the first time. For you guys.”

Across the show, Zayn debuted several tracks from his forthcoming album, offering an early snapshot of the project’s sound and direction.

New songs premiered during the residency opener included Used to the Blues and Fatal, the latter of which saw the singer incorporate Urdu lyrics in a powerful nod to his South Asian heritage.

He also performed his emotionally charged new single, Die for Me.

Fans attending the residency – which ends on January 31 – can enter a Z5 listening booth to hear snippets of Zayn’s new music.

A press release notes that: “The shows are only the beginning of what will be a massive year for ZAYN as he gears up for his next chapter.”

Zayn has previously hinted that his next album will serve as a spiritual continuation of Mind of Mine, a record that topped charts upon its release in 2016.

Speaking during a recent livestream, as quoted by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column, he said: “The next album is soon. I have been working on some cool s*** in South Asian music and bringing those influences into my music as well.”

He added: “It is like pop, R’n’B, and a lot of Indian influences. The record is like a continuation of Mind of Mine in that sense. I might have some songs coming out in Urdu, too.”

The new album will follow his 2025 collaboration with BLACKPINK star Jisoo, Eyes Closed.
