Nintendo confirms Super Mario Bros. Wonder Switch 2 Edition release date and new gameplay features

Nintendo has announced that Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will launch on March 26, adding a new Bellabel Park hub, expanded multiplayer minigames, playable Rosalina, assist features, and new amiibo to its acclaimed platformer.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is releasing on March 26, 2026.

Nintendo has confirmed the upgraded edition, officially titled Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park, is to launch in two months’ time with a host of new minigames.

It will be sold as a standalone release, while existing owners on the original Switch will be able to purchase an upgrade pack to access the new content.

The headline addition is Bellabel Park, a new hub area packed with multiplayer-focused activities.

Its Local Multiplayer Plaza includes 17 new co-op and versus minigames supporting up to four players on one system, with GameShare allowing friends to join even if they don’t own the game.

A separate Game Room Plaza introduces six minigames playable either locally or online, with online sessions supporting up to 12 players.

Elsewhere, Camp Central introduces Captain Toad and the Toad Brigade, offering challenge-based missions drawn from existing stages.

Completing these tasks earns players elite explorer status.

The Koopalings also return, stealing treasure from Bellabel Park and prompting new objectives spread across the game’s levels.

Nintendo is also adding accessibility and assist options.

Co-Star Luma lets a second player join as a support character, while Assist Mode removes damage and pitfall penalties, making the game more approachable for younger or less experienced players.

Ahead of her appearance in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Rosalina will be playable in Wonder for the first time.

To coincide with launch, three new amiibo will arrive on March 26, featuring Elephant Mario, Poplin and Prince Florian, and Captain Toad the Talking Flower.

Nintendo has also confirmed a Talking Flower desk accessory launching earlier, on March 12.

Pricing details have yet to be announced, with pre-orders expected to open closer to release.
