Returning to the music business is scary, says Hilary Duff

Hilary Duff has opened up about her return to the music business.

Hilary Duff found her return to the music industry to be “scary”.

The 38-year-old star is releasing her first album in 11 years with Luck… or Something – but Hilary admits to hesitating before she made her return to the music business.

Hilary told Rolling Stone: “Everyone has a way to tell you how they feel about what you make, and that felt scary. I was like, ‘Why would I subject myself to this? We have a happy life and amazing kids.’ But obviously, I miss performing, and I desperately miss having that person be in the forefront.”

Hilary also revealed how her husband, Matthew Koma, influenced her new music.

She said: “He was like, ‘We just have to make what we think is cool, what you want to listen to in your car.’ He has a way of boiling everything down and making it super digestible for me.

“So that was the approach of the record. What keeps me up at night? What are my insecurities? The themes are what 10 years has brought on. It was super healing to make something that felt exactly like me, and where I am right now …it was really important to me to not make a record that was like, ‘I’m a mom and I pick up my kids at school and pack lunches every day and it’s so hard.’”

Earlier this week, Hilary revealed that she “just felt really ready to share” when she returned to the music business.

The blonde beauty – who has focused her attention on acting in recent years – told Glamour magazine: “I just felt really ready to share.

“One, I wanted to stretch creatively, and two, I wanted to make something that I could connect with people again on the level of who I am now. I felt like people have definitely gone through some of the similar large strokes that I have in the past 10 to 15 years.”
