In a role that will see her star alongside John Malcovich, actress Jennifer Jason Leigh has joined the cast of the upcoming Prime Video thriller Bishop.

Jennifer Jason Leigh has joined the cast of the upcoming Prime Video thriller Bishop.

Taking on the role of Jillian Graves in the new series from Amazon MGM Studios, it marks an acting comeback for the 63-year-old, who reached global fame thanks to roles in movies including Single White Female and The Hateful Eight.

Her new project will see her will play the sister of Lincoln Graves, portrayed by John Malkovich, and the aunt of the show’s central character Bishop Graves, played by Joel Kinnaman.

The drama was ordered by Prime Video in September and is based on an original idea from co-creators Little Marvin and Tony Saltzman.

It follows Bishop as he tracks a killer targeting wealthy figures in San Francisco while becoming convinced the crimes are linked to his powerful father, Lincoln.

Prime Video describes the central character as “brillian” and “battle-scarred” and added he will “put all of his skills to the test in the hunt for an elusive killer targeting San Francisco’s moneyed class”.

The synopsis continues: “As this increasingly audacious killer develops a devoted following among the city’s powerless, Bishop becomes convinced these murders connect back to San Francisco’s most powerful man, his own father, Lincoln Graves.”

Jennifer has built a career across film, television and theatre, and is known for a number of critically acclaimed roles.

She received Oscar, BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations for her performance in Quentin Tarantino’s film The Hateful Eight.

More recently, she appeared in the fifth season of FX’s Fargo, earning praise for her portrayal of wealthy businesswoman Lorraine Lyon.

Jennifer has also worked across a range of film and television projects including The Anniversary Party, which she co-wrote and co-directed.

Her television roles include the Netflix series Atypical, while film credits include the Netflix thriller The Woman in the Window alongside Julianne Moore and Amy Adams.

She has also appeared in Apple TV+’s limited series Lisey’s Story and in the television adaptation of Patrick Melrose with Benedict Cumberbatch.

Another film credit includes White Boy Rick opposite Matthew McConaughey.

Little Marvin, who has an overall deal with Amazon MGM Studios, will serve as showrunner on Bishop in addition to co-creating the series and acting as an executive producer.

Tony Saltzman is also a co-creator and executive producer on the project.
