Ryan Gosling has revealed why he loves making space-themed movies.
Ryan Gosling has always been fascinated by space.
The 45-year-old actor has starred in a number of space-themed movies during his career – including Project Hail Mary and First Man – and Ryan admits that the subject has always interested him.
Speaking to the BBC, Ryan shared: “[Space] can be hard to understand but it’s important to find a way to make it accessible but also feel realistic – funny things happen in dramatic and sad situations.”
Ryan – who is also set to appear in the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter space opera – actually feels compelled to further his understanding of the universe.
He said: “Space in general has always been interesting to me, something that I want to understand and need to feel like I do.”
Ryan finds that each of his space-themed movies has furthered his understanding of the subject.
The actor explained: “I think I’ll make another movie and I’ll get it, but I never do so I just go back in and make another one from another angle.
“But obviously it’s infinite and very mysterious so I don’t think I get the understanding I’m looking for but the process is really gratifying.”
Meanwhile, Ryan previously called for the Oscars to recognise the work of stunt performers.
The actor played a stuntman in The Fall Guy in 2024, and he insisted that they deserve more appreciation.
Ryan told the BBC: “They dress like us, they do the dangerous things for us. They take the hits for us, they put themselves in harm’s way for us.
“They play our characters as well, they’re actors too, in the same union. But they hide their face and disappear into the shadows and everyone pretends they weren’t there. The better they are at their job, the more they disappear in a way. It ends now. We’re flipping the script …
“They risk more than anyone. Their work is an art form, it’s designed just as much as make-up and costumes or anything else.”
