Dennis Rodman is being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
The basketball icon, who is already a member of the NBA Hall of Fame, will take his place in wrestling history as part of the 2026 class of inductees over WrestleMania weekend next month.
ESPN reporter Shams Charania wrote on X: “Basketball Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in April, per ESPN sources. “Rodman made his WCW debut in 1997 and famously skipped a practice during the 1998 NBA Finals for a wrestling match alongside Hulk Hogan. Two HOFs for Rodman.”
WWE shared his post on their own account, confirming the news.
During the height of his success with the Chicago Bulls in 1997, the then-WWF contacted him about appearing at that year’s WrestleMania.
Instead, his team struck a deal with rivals World Championship Wrestling (WCW), and he appeared on both Nitro and the Uncensored pay-per-view event in March of that year.
He made his in-ring wrestling debut at Bash At The Beach that summer, teaming with Hollywood Hulk Hogan to take on Lex Luger and The Giant, better known to WWE fans as The Big Show.
The following year, he skipped practice with the Chicago Bulls during the NBA Finals and instead appeared on Nitro, while it was soon announced he would face off against Karl Malone at the 2024 Bash At The Beach.
There, Hogan and Rodman teamed up against to beat Malone and Diamond Dallas Page, while he returned for a third and final WCW bout in 1999 to face Randy Savage at Road Wild.
He would return to the ring in 2000, when he wrestled Curt Hennig on the i-Generation Wrestling’s tour of Australia.
He has stayed part of the wrestling world over the years, including Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Wrestling, and even making appearances for All Elite Wrestling (AEW) in 2023.
He will be inducted at this year’s WWE Hall of Fame as part of an all star group, including Stephanie McMahon, Demolition’s Ax and Smash, and AJ Styles.
The ceremony will take place after SmackDown on Friday, April 17, at the Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas.
Last year’s event was live streamed internationally on WWE’s YouTube channel.
