Gillian Anderson shares her ‘weird’ beauty tip which always works

The X Files star Gillian Anderson has shared a “weird” beauty tip which always works for her – revealing she uses lipstick on her eyelids.

Gillian Anderson uses lipstick as an eyeshadow.

The X Files star, 57, has shared her most “unconventional beauty tip” which always works for her – revealing she revealing she likes to double up her lipstick by using it on her eyelids because it “doesn’t budge” but she insists it only works with neutral shades.

She told Sheer Luxe: “My unconventional beauty tip is making lipstick multitask. I use mine as an eyeshadow. People think that’s weird but it’s actually very effective as it doesn’t budge, gives great colour pay-off and gives the eyes a bit of depth – I’m talking neutral tones only though.”

Gillian went on to reveal her favourite perfumes explaining she loves a “smoky”, adding: “Smoky scents are my go-to. There’s a company called Perfumer H which I love for all-natural scents. I also love this Comme des Garçons cologne called Wonderwood for its warmth. “

The actress also shared her love of baths and revealed which products she uses for a luxurious soak. She said: “Baths are my favourite way to unwind. There’s always a good glug of oil in my tub from Jo Malone London or Le Labo. “

Gillian recently became a global spokeswoman for L’Oreal Paris but admitted she only developed a skincare routine in the last few years because she was “lazy”.

She told PEOPLE magazine: “I spent most of my life not really paying that much attention to any kind of a routine.

“I would be very lazy and wear the same makeup for a few days – not washing it off and adding to the layers of the mascara.

“Since becoming an ambassador and really talking about routine, I have [created one].”

The Sex Education star now uses the brand’s Age Perfect Serum Le Duo for the daytime and Age Perfect Collagen Night Moisturizer in the evening.

She added: “What’s great about the brand is that they’re not asking me to pretend. It’s perfectly fine to be able to say, ‘You know what? I’ve been doing this for a year, and that’s it’.”

Gillian had been speaking to L’Oreal “over a long period of time” about the partnership, and there was a “surreal” feeling when it finally became reality.

She said: “I found myself almost ignoring it just in case it didn’t happen. And when it did, and I was at my first photo shoot, I think I was slightly stunned because it just felt so surreal.

“I mean, my first many years were in London, and then we moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, and so felt like a small-town girl in the Midwest in a way.

“And I think as [the partnership] has gone on and I’ve been having more conversations as an ambassador and embracing and taking ownership of the role, it’s the same as what I think potentially happens when you start to take ownership of the slogan [‘Worth It’], you start to believe it a little bit more.”
