‘It’s a pretty exciting show’: Jon Hamm enjoying Mad Men with his wife

Jon Hamm has been rewatching Mad Men with his wife for the first time since his breakthrough drama aired.

Jon Hamm has been rewatching Mad Men with his wife.

The 55-year-old actor became a household name playing Don Draper in the advertising drama from 2007–2015, while his spouse Anna Osceola made a brief appearance in the series finale and they are now watching the show together for the first time since it aired.

Jon told Today: “My wife and I have been rewatching Mad Men, because I haven’t done it. I’ve stayed away.

“I’ve only seen the show when it first aired, and it went off the air in 2015, so it’s been 11 years since that.”

The Your Friends and Neighbors star has had “fun” watching the programme, though he joked it has been “hard” to see his youthful appearance.

He added: “It’s been a fun ride to look back. Obviously, it’s hard to look at yourself skinnier and with more hair and all the other things. But, I don’t know, I’m doing OK. I guess I’m doing OK.

“It was just a fun exercise. And I had been doing a lot of press and talking about it. I was like, ‘I should probably familiarise myself with it a little more.’ And it’s been fun so far. We’re about two thirds away through season two. So we got a lot to go to, too.”

And Jon is happy with his performance in Mad Men.

He laughed: “I’m liking it. This kid’s got a future.”

In a separate interview Jon admitted he had forgotten a lot of what had happened on the show.

Speaking to Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM show, he said: “It’s a pretty good show. I’m very into it. I think this was kind of a great way to do it because I’ve got ten-plus years of separation on it, so it’s kind of like watching a different person up there and a different experience.

“I don’t remember a lot of the stuff that I wasn’t in, so I’ll be like, ‘Oh, I forgot that that happened.’ “

He explained they are currently watching the episode Six Months Leave, “which is where Freddy Rumsen pees his pants, and there’s a whole thing.”

He added: “There’s so many great things happening in the show: Don and Betty are really in a rocky place. Peggy is just being kind of, is just ascendant. Joan is engaged to be married, so there’s all this stuff that’s percolating. Of course, I know how it all ends, but boy, it’s a pretty exciting show. I’m pleased.”
