‘Bang! And the dirt is gone…’ Why is an advert for bathroom cleaner the unique kink of Inbetweeners star James Buckley?

The Inbetweeners star James Buckley has revealed an odd bedroom kink he has which involves classic TV adverts.

James Buckley has shared an embarrassing sex secret – he likes to shout out the catchphrase from the Cillit Bang adverts when he’s in bed with his wife.

The Inbetweeners star – who played Jay Cartwright in the comedy series and films – has confessed to his odd kink, admitting that when he and his wife Clair are getting frisky between the sheets he gets the urge to shout out “Bang! And the dirt is gone”, the words that Barry Scott famously uttered in the iconic TV adverts for the bathroom cleaner.

Appearing on The Buckleys podcast, he said: “Back in the day – I haven’t done it for a while, I’m an old man now – when I was finishing a passionate situation I used to like to chuck in a little funny catchphrase. One of them was, ‘Bang! And the dirt is gone.’ Another one was, ‘Geronimo!’”

James, 38, admits his fondness for shouting out catchphrases in the bedroom sometimes used to result in both him and former model Clair breaking into fits of giggles which would bring an end to their marital antics.

He added: “Clair used to find them funny.

“It’s good to have a little joke at the end of having it off, basically. We had to both stop sometimes, because we were laughing too much and we couldn’t get back into it. Good times.”

James is obsessed with watching old adverts, especially ones from the ‘90s, and he once wasted hours just watching old TV ads in a hotel room.

He said: “I have spent an evening when I was working away and you’re in a hotel, I have spent an evening on YouTube just watching old adverts. I watched a coupe and I was like, ‘F****** hell, I remember that.’ And I just kept going.

“Do you remember the hedgehogs teaching you to cross the road. Belly’s going to get you, the Reebok thing with the gross and hairy belly, which looks like an a***. There were some great adverts in the ‘90s.”

James is obsessed with ’90s culture and his favourite band of all-time is Oasis, and he has the title of their song Live Forever tattooed on his wrist.
