Frankie Muniz feels ready to “be an actor” again after filming the Malcolm in the Middle reunion.

The former child star, 40, reunited with the rest of the cast – including Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek – to bring the beloved sitcom back for a new series called Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair and Frankie has revealed being back onset reignited his love for the entertainment business after spending years pursing other careers including race car driving and making olive oil.

When asked if filming the reunion show has “reignited” his passion for acting, Frankie told Deadline.com: “100 per cent. I mean, I would love to be an actor … Acting has always been something I did, but I also used to play soccer and football and basketball, and I’m a golfer and I’m a race car driver, and I own an olive oil company. It was just one of the many things I did.

“But when I finished filming this, I had such a good time, and I loved it so much and it made me feel really, really proud every day on set.

“It was the first time that I was really happy to have the title of actor next to my name. I really accepted it. I was like: ‘Yes, I am an actor’ …

“I would definitely love to jump back into that world.”

Frankie is still committed to racing for the moment but he would happily take on another acting role if he was offered an interesting project.

He said: “Obviously right now, I’m pursuing racing full-time, and a lot of that has to do with the fact that when I dive into something, I go 100 per cent.

“I don’t have hobbies, I wanna be the best race car driver I can be … But definitely, if had an opportunity to go back into the acting world, I wouldn’t hesitate. I would love to be there. But it’s not up to me, so we’ll see what happens.”

In Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, Frankie reprises his role as Malcolm while Jane and Bryan return as his parents parents Lois and Hal joining Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield as Malcom’s brothers Francis and Reese.

Erik Per Sullivan, who played youngest brother Dewey, decided against returning for the reunion so he could focus on studying for a master’s degree at Harvard university and he was replaced by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark.

Jane recently admitted she “admires” Erik for rejecting a return to TV, telling Extra, Jane said: “I admire [Erik] so much for being a young man who knows exactly who he is and exactly what makes him happy.”

Bryan quipped: “Huge mistake to go into academia as opposed to show business!” And Jane added: “That what I admired, you know. Everybody wants to be in show business and this kid, who is so beloved, says, ‘Thanks, but no.

“‘I love what I’m doing now. I love my life now. I saved my money well when I was a child actor and can go have a good time and I’ll enjoy watching.’ It’s remarkable.”

Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair features four 30-minutes episodes which debuted on Hulu on April 10.
