Barbie Ferreira reveals relationship dealbreakers and why she’s ‘never dated an actor’

Former Euphoria star Barbie Ferreira has insisted she only knows “how to date normal-ish people”.

Barbie Ferreira has “never dated an actor”.

The 29-year-old actress, who is in a relationship with someone outside the entertainment would, has insisted she wouldn’t know how to date someone who isn’t relatively “normal”, and she’d rather focus on building a bond with someone “real”.

Speaking to Bustle, she said: “I have never dated an actor. I only know how to date normal-ish people. To impress me, you need a real personality and real life.

“I grew up in a different place than a lot of people in Hollywood. I’m an immigrant kid from New York who watched people hustle their way out of their situations.

“I don’t search for the next ‘it’ person to date. And I hate PR relationships — I could never do that. I want to be like Tilda Swinton.”

The former Euphoria star is openly queer, and while her partner is male, she has “always” been open to date people regardless of their gender.

She explained: “I’ve always dated both. I grew up in a very open-minded family. My aunt is a lesbian and my mom is very ‘open to the gays.’

“I never even had to come out; it was a ‘whatever’ moment. I don’t see a huge difference in relationships based on gender because people are so unique.”

Meanwhile, Barbie has a simple explanation for why she’s avoided the typical pushback from people in the LGBTQ+ community for identifying as queer but having an opposite-sex relationship.

She quipped: “I just don’t think people care who I’m dating!

“I’ve been photographed by paparazzi on a date and they literally cropped the person out. They were like, ‘Is that her driver?’ “

When it comes to fame as a whole, Barbie insisted she likes to keep things simple in her private life, and avoid the glitz and glamour.

She explained: “My response to stress is to stay home. I will hermit, and that’s OK. I live my life, I just don’t do flashy things.

“I’ll be at the Renaissance Faire, though — I go every year. I do a little skirt and a corset and sit at the joust. I love wholesome fun because I grew up too fast.”
