Jimmy Kimmel jokes Donald Trump row is another war for the president to deal with

Jimmy Kimmel has jokingly called on a “cease-fire agreement” with Donald Trump.

Jimmy Kimmel has jokingly called for a “cease-fire agreement” in Donald Trump’s “war” against comedians.

The late night talk show host has called out the United States President after Trump once again urged ABC to fire the “seriously unfunny” comedian, claiming he “incompetently presides over one of the Lowest Rated shows on Television (sic)”.

Kimmel addressed Trump’s Truth Social post during his monologue on Thursday’s (30.04.26) episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and referenced a headline revealing the president’s approval ratings have hit an all-time low for his second term

He quipped: “If incompetently presiding over not just ‘one of’ but the lowest rating in history is the reason I should be fired, we should both be out of a job because you’re not doing too good either!”

He later turned his attention to Trump’s repeated attacks on him, comparing them to real life wars.

He teased: “Trump has three wars going on right now – Iranians, Ukrainians, and Comedians.

“I’m worried this conflict is going to escalate. He might put a blockade on Hollywood Boulevard.”

Kimmel suggested there could be peace talks between Trump and himself.

He joked: “Send a delegation. Send JD Vance and Jared and your friend the real estate broker – send them all, we can meet in a neutral location.

“Like Pakistan or, I don’t know, Van Nuys. We can go to the Buffalo Wild Wings down the street.

“Let’s see if we can come up with a cease-fire agreement. This could be good for both of us. I get to keep my job, you get to end your 11th war.”

The latest row between Trump and Kimmel comes as the comedian is facing backlash from the president and his First Lady Melania Trump.

He made a joke on Jimmy Kimmel Live! days before an alleged assassination attempt on Donald Trump, 79, at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday (25.04.26).

During a parody of the event, he referenced Melania’s appearance and 56th birthday.

During the segment, he said: “Our First Lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow.”

He added: “You know, Melania’s birthday is on Sunday. She’s planning to celebrate at home the same way she always does, looking out a window and whispering, ‘What have I done?’”

Despite pressure from the president, ABC are reportedly not looking to suspended Kimmel or his show as they did last year, following comments about the death of right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk.

This week, an ABC insider told Page Six that the network “is sticking by” Jimmy, and they “don’t plan to suspend him, fire him or cancel the show”.

The source added: “It’s back to taping per usual. They’re moving on.”
