Sharon Stone mourns brother

Sharon Stone’s eldest brother, Mike Stone, has died following a period of “extended illness”.

Sharon Stone’s older brother has died.

The Basic Instinct star – who has adopted sons Roan, 25, Laird, 21, and 19-year-old Quinn – has paid tribute to Mike Stone after he passed away “following an extended illness” at the age of 74.

Sharing a photo of Mike on Instagram, Sharon wrote: “Mike Stone, My oldest brother, Has passed away.

“Following an extended illness.

“We wish him peace. Sharon, Roan, Laird + Quinn (sic)”

Mike was also an actor and, as well as roles in 1990s films Eraser and Malevolence, he appeared alongside his sister in 1995 Western The Quick and the Dead.

The tragic news comes three years after Sharon’s younger brother, Patrick Stone, died at the age of 57 after suffering a heart attack.

Reflecting on the tragedy, as well as the death of Patrick’s 11-month-old son River from organ failure in August 2021, the Euphoria actress said in a now-deleted Instagram video: “Yes, we’ve had a tremendous amount of loss in these last couple of years, as so many of you also have.

“We do greatly understand that the losses are ours here on Earth, and I thank you very much for the love and support that you’re showing us, and we just ask you to continue to be kind. Thank you.”

And last March, Sharon’s mom Dorothy died at the age of 91, but she didn’t make the news public for four months because she was keen to process her feelings in private.

She later told the Guardian newspaper: “Mom, Dot, actually died a few months ago, but I was only ready to tell the public about it now because I always get my mad feelings first when people die …

“[It was] a little bit of anger and a little bit of: ‘I didn’t f****** need you anyway,’ you know! …

“Mom wasn’t of a sunny disposition. She was hilarious, but she said terrible things to me. Dot swore like a Portuguese dock worker.”

Sharon went on to reveal the last few days of her mother’s life were tough as she battled “delirium”.

She explained: “[Mom] said: “I’m going to kick you in the c***,’ to me probably 40 times in the last five days. But that was her delirium.

“And when the last thing your mother says to you before she dies is: ‘You talk too much, you make me want to commit suicide,’ and the whole rooms laughs, you think: that’s a hard one to go out on, Mom!

“But that’s how she was. This lack of ability to find tenderness and peace within herself …

“She was desperately afraid that when she died her mother and father would be there. She didn’t want to die, because she didn’t want to see them, because they were so awful.

“So I convinced her that I had put them in jail and they were not going to be there. She was in such hell. Nobody comes through this life intact. So why do we pretend that one does?”
