Pink loves aerial stunts, despite surprising phobia

Pink loves the adrenalin rush she gets from embracing her fear of heights and doing aerial stunts during her concerts.

Pink finds it “freeing” to do aerial stunts, despite her fear of heights.

The So What hitmaker is known for her dazzling acrobatics during her performances, and though she admitted she “cannot handle” being far away from the ground, Pink relishes the adrenalin rush she gets from confronting her phobia.

Speaking on Late Night with Seth Meyers, she said:”Once, Carey my husband was driving me to the Don’t Let Me Get Me video, which was like 854 years ago, and we were driving along a cliff and he’s reckless. I said, ‘Let me out or I’ll never speak to you again.’ I had to walk. I cannot handle heights

“And that’s why I do that. I believe in feeling the fear and doing it anyway.”

Asked how she doesn’t think about her fear when she’s performing her stunts, Pink – who has children Willow, 14, and Jameson, nine with husband Carey Hart – added: “It’s so freeing. My mom was once like, ‘Aren’t you ever going to stay on the ground?’ And I was like, ‘Why would I?’

“If I can do this, if I can convince people to shoot me out of a stage floor, why wouldn’t I do that? It’s so much fun.

“It turns 50-year-old men into 6-year-old boys… Like the first time you see magic.

“I get that every night from people. That’s why I’m so bored at home.”

The 46-year-old star is set to host the Tony Awards this weekend and has teased there will be “acrobatic moments” during the show.

She said on CBS Mornings: “There will be acrobatic moments, but not in the way that you would normally see me doing acrobatic moments.

“I know there’s a harness or two.”

Pink has plans for the opening number and teased it will depict her as “an idiot”.

She said: “It is goofy and over-the-top and it’s sort of a nod back — it’ll all make sense — and there’s gonna be 170 people on stage. It’s gonna be so fun.

“And I’m an idiot from the very first moment, which was very important to me.”

The Raise Your Glass singer recently explained she and her family had relocated to New York because of her daughter’s love of theatre.

Speaking during her guest stint hosting The Kelly Clarkson Show, she said: “We actually moved here because I am an amazing mom.

“And also so Willow could study theatre and experience more Broadway.”
