An investigation into the death of Hulk Hogan has closed after ruling his passing an “attended natural death”.
An investigation into Hulk Hogan’s death has closed.
The wrestling legend – whose real name was Terry Gene Bollea – passed away in July 2025 at the age of 71 and authorities have now released a new statement in which they confirmed his passing had been ruled due to natural causes.
The Clearwater Police Department (CPD) in Florida said in a statement: “The investigation into the death of Terry Bollea is now closed, and classified as an attended natural death.”
In addition, a 72-page report from the police told how officers were called to the WWE icon’s home at around 10:21am on 24 July, 2025, to attend a “possible medical emergency”, where CPR was performed before Hogan was transported to Morgan Plant Hospital and pronounced dead at 11:17am.
The Suburban Commando actor died “exclusively from compelling natural disease, with no reasonable traumatic or terminal toxicologic contributions. As such, the manner of death is also natural.”
The report added: “Following an exhaustive review of the statements, medical records, surveillance footage from within the residence, and a visual inspection of Mr. Bollea’s body, there has been no evidence to indicate the death of Terry Bollea was anything other than natural.
“Through the course of the investigation, there has been no evidence to indicate any criminal wrongdoing related to his death. This case will be closed, and will be considered solved, non-criminal.”
CPD released police bodycam footage, which included a video interview with Justin McCamey, an occupational therapist who was at Hogan’s home when he died and spoke with cops the moments after his death.
The report stated: “Justin advised Mr. Bollea’s health has been very poor ever since the surgery. Mr. Bollea has had approximately 20-30 various knee, hip, and back surgeries over the years.”
Hogan’s third wife, Sky Daily, was at home when first responders arrived.
A month after her husband’s death, it was speculated that Hogan could have died due to medical malpractice as Sky revealed his phrenic nerve – which helps the diaphragm contract and expand to allow lungs to inhale and exhale air – was “compromised” during a recent surgery.
She also told TMZ Sports an autopsy has been carried out but she declined to reveal its results, and sources told the outlet an occupational therapist was present at Hulk’s home when he stopped breathing, and told responding officers he had been the victim of medical malpractice because his phrenic nerve had been “severed” during a recent operation.
