Jesy Nelson’s sister defends her after Perrie Edwards’ ‘difficult’ claims

Perrie Edwards spoke about her fractured relationship with her former Little Mix bandmate during an interview on Jamie Laing’s Great Company podcast, revealing she’s had to cut Jesy Nelson out of her life for good.

Jesy Nelson’s sister has slammed Perrie Edwards for taking aim at her “difficult” sibling considering the “hell” she’s been through.

Perrie spoke about her fractured relationship with her former Little Mix bandmate during an interview on Jamie Laing’s Great Company podcast, revealing she’s had to cut Jesy out of her life for good.

She said: “What annoys me is the most, and again I have to be careful how I say this as I don’t want to seem like a b**** but for me what upsets me the most is when situations like this happen and the other person doesn’t take any accountability. That boils my blood!”

“I am not blaming everything on you, I am not saying that she’s this f****** monster and everything was her fault blah, blah, blah but take some accountability for your actions and realise you were difficult, you did have difficult moments.”

While Jesy herself has yet to respond to Perrie’s interview, her sister Jade weighed in as she issued a lengthy statement via her Instagram page on Thursday (11Jun26).

She wrote: “People say in life be the bigger person, keep quiet, but actually sometimes it doesn’t do any good.

“l’ve watched my sister go through hell and back for many many years and very few will only ever understand what it’s like to be tormented, bullied and pulled down for the way you look.

“It’s really easy to say just ignore it, but until you are in that situation yourself you will never ever really no how it will affect them.”

Jesy, 34, left Little Mix in December 2020 after nine years in the chart-topping group, citing the impact fame and public scrutiny had on her mental health.

In her statement, Jade said that Jesy’s declining mental health had caused her to attempt suicide on two occasions – once in 2013 and once in 2020, days before she quit Little Mix.

She continued: “I think when you attempt to end your life not once, but twice it shows the dark place you must be in and YES that was with a lack of support many many times.

“As for not taking accountability, that is actually all she’s done, she’s fully aware she was hard work, she’s fully aware she was hard to deal with but through it all if any other single person were struggling with a break up, anxiety, life, she was there!

“lsn’t that what you do as friends or if you love someone? So yes we may learn lots from our therapists but would a therapist ever say there is only so many times you can pick someone up. It’s ok to be spoken about in interviews, songs, but the minute she tells her truth finally, it’s funny people don’t seem to like it.

“It’s always a shock when someone finally stands up for themselves, maybe that’s why we get angry and swear as we can’t believe it.”

She concluded by writing: “There is always so so much more someone could have said.”

After Jesy left Little Mix, Perrie, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock continued as a trio before the group went on hiatus in 2022 to allow each member to pursue solo careers.

Perrie’s podcast interview came shortly after Jesy discussed the breakdown of her friendships with her former bandmates in a recent documentary, in which she said she had not seen them since leaving the group but did not completely rule out a future reunion.

The group remain one of Britain’s most successful girl bands, with hits including Shout Out to My Ex, Black Magic and Wings.

Jesy has enjoyed solo success since departing Little Mix, with tracks including Boyz, featuring Nicki Minaj.

However, she has also had a difficult time in her personal life – with her twin daughters Ocean and Story being diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1, an incurable genetic muscle-wasting disease.

She also split from Zion Foster – the father of her twins – in January this year.
