Perrie Edwards was in floods of tears before her wedding after losing something very special to her – only for it to turn up in a very unexpected place.
Perrie Edwards “cried all day” in the lead up to her wedding after losing her favourite necklace – only for it to turn up in an unexpected place just hours before the ceremony.
The Little Mix singer married Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – the father of her children Axel, four, and five-month-old Alanis – in Portugal over the weekend and she’s recalled how disaster struck shortly before they flew out to Faro.
She told Britain’s Vogue magazine: “Alex gave me a diamond necklace after I gave birth to Axel and I wear it every single day, but the day before I came away to Portugal it went missing. I cried all day, we looked everywhere – we even checked the hoover – but it was gone. I was convinced someone had stolen it.”
But on the morning of the wedding, hairstylist Aaron Carlo was helping Perrie get ready when he delighted her with a discovery.
She explained: “He was sorting through my hair extensions and he said, ‘Okay, Perrie: what I’m about to show you is your something old, your something new, your everything in one, and you’re going to cry.’ ”
Aaron pulled the locked out of her hair and Perrie admitted: “I sobbed. I was so happy and so relieved. It set the tone – I knew from that moment it was gonna be the best day ever.”
For the ceremony, Perrie, 32, wore a Dana Harel dress paired with a bolero jacket and she was thrilled with her look.
She said: “I’ve always envisioned myself in lace. It’s just so classic and timeless.
“It couldn’t have been more perfect.”
After the church ceremony, she donned a crystal-embellished full-length dress by Galia Lahav with Jimmy Choo heels for their first dance, and ended the night in a custom minidress and matching headdress from Annie’s Ibiza, teamed with Christian Louboutin shoes.
She said: “I wanted to change for the evening so I could dance and be free.
“It was short and fun and fab and cinched to the heavens with the corset!”
The Wings hitmaker hailed the wedding as the “best day of [her] life” and admitted the ceremony as emotional for both her and Alex, also 32.
She said: “[It was] the best day of my life – up there with the births of my children…
“Alex isn’t a crier – he doesn’t get emotional that often. But when he turned around at the altar and saw me for the first time, we both just cried our eyes out. I thought: I’ll never forget this moment right here. It was beautiful. I’ve never experienced a room so full of love.”
