Caroline Flack’s brother Paul Flack has died at the age of 55, six years after the TV presenter tragically ended her own life.
Caroline Flack’s brother has died at the age of 55 – six years after the former Love Island host’s death.
An inquest into Paul Flack’s death was opened at Norfolk Coroner’s Court on Monday (29.06.26) after he was found unresponsive at his home in Norwich, East England, on June 21. He later died at Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.
The court heard that a provisional post-mortem examination had been carried out, but Coroner Yvonne Blake said further inquiries are needed before the full circumstances surrounding his death can be established.
The hearing was adjourned until October 23 while investigations continue.
Paul, an artist and graphic designer, is survived by his partner and two children.
His death comes six years after the death of his younger sister Caroline – who was a major star on British television hosting shows such as The X Factor, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! NOW! and Love Island – in February 2020 at the age of 40.
Following Caroline’s death, Paul shared a touching tribute on Instagram alongside a childhood photograph of the pair.
He wrote: “This will be my last post here. May those who know feel shame for eternity. Love you Caroline.”
The heartfelt message remains the final post on his Instagram account.
Although Paul largely stayed away from the spotlight, he became one of several members of the Flack family who spoke publicly about the devastating impact Caroline’s death had on those closest to her.
In 2021, he appeared alongside his mother, Christine, and sister, Elizabeth, in the documentary Caroline Flack: Her Life and Death, which explored the presenter’s career, personal struggles and the profound effect her loss had on her family.
In the Disney+ series, Christine tries to understand the events that occurred in the final months of Caroline’s life.
Speaking to her children about her mission, she said: “I just hope I can achieve something, and as long as you all don’t mind me doing it, I’ll go ahead.
“I think Caroline would be pleased with what I’m doing. I wish I’d done it then, before she took her own life, and that’s my biggest regret, that I wasn’t shouting like this then, but now I’ve got nothing to lose.
“The worst thing in the world happened with losing Carrie.”
Caroline ended her own life in February 2020, after learning that prosecutors intended to pursue an assault charge over an incident involving her boyfriend, Lewis Burton, in December 2019.
Coroner Mary Hassell ruled that Caroline took her own life because she knew she was being prosecuted and could not face the extensive scrutiny that would accompany the trial.
