Dolly Parton jokingly asked if she can have Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s firstborn child in a video message thanking them for supporting her charity.
Dolly Parton has asked Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce for their “special” firstborn child.
The couple are set to tie the knot this weekend and to mark the happy occasion, they have donated $26 million to 20 named charities, including handing over $2 million to the 9 to 5 hitmaker’s own Imagination Library – a programme which sends free books to children from birth until they begin school in participating areas – and the country legend has expressed her gratitude in a funny video message.
Dolly said in a video shared to Instagram: “Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I’m blown away and overjoyed with that gratitude.
“Now, it’s evident that you two have made giving back a key part of your lives. When you have your firstborn, can I have it? ‘Cause that is gonna be one special baby!”
Dolly again expressed her gratitude for the “very generous” contribution, which will allow the foundation to “continue [its] mission even in bigger ways.”
The 80-year-old star blew a kiss to the camera after she signed off her video with a brief musical snippet of her singing: “And know that I will always love you!”
Fellow country star Brad Paisley and his wife Kimberley Williams-Paisley also expressed their gratitude after Taylor and Travis made a donation to their non-profit free grocery outlet The Store.
They told People in a statement: “We’re truly inspired by Taylor and Travis’s generosity to so many wonderful organizations, and extremely grateful that The Store is included among them.
“This gift will go a long way toward helping our neighbors facing food insecurity in Nashville. What a beautiful way to celebrate the beginning of a marriage!”
Meanwhile, City Harvest, New York City’s largest food rescue organisation, said the $1 million they received will help provide food to more than 2.4 million this summer.
CEO Jilly Stephens said: “We are incredibly grateful for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s generous $1 million donation to City Harvest. This donation is a love letter to New York, and a bold commitment to our efforts to ensure that no New Yorker goes hungry.
“Their support comes at a critical time, with visits to New York City soup kitchens and food pantries near record highs and expected to increase further in response to federal funding cuts.”
