Music producer Garret “Jacknife” Lee dismissed Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding invite as spam, thinking someone was trying to “hack” his address book, leaving his wife Melissa Garner devastated.
A music producer dismissed Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding invite as spam, leaving his wife devastated.
Melissa Garner Lee has told how her husband Garret “Jacknife” Lee received a message from the Love Story singer’s manager inviting the pair to be part of Taylor and Travis’ 1,000 guests at their nuptials at New York’s Madison Square Garden last Friday (03.07.26) – but Jacknife didn’t respond.
In an HuffPost op-ed, Melissa wrote of her conversation with Jacknife over the invite snub: “‘Wait, why weren’t we invited? There are a thousand people there!’ I asked my husband Garret, a well-known music producer in LA.
“I scrolled on Instagram as we talked, watching the celebrities roll into Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding at Madison Square Garden.
“‘I got a text but I thought it was spam,’ he told me, sounding defensive. ‘WHAT!?’ I asked in total disbelief.
“I could feel my heart pulsing in my fingertips as I continued to scroll through the barrage of wedding-related posts popping up online.
“‘Yeah – remember I told you I got a text from her manager? But I didn’t respond to it. It didn’t sound like him.’
“‘It was probably an assistant!’ I scolded him, my frustration growing by the second.”
Melissa admitted Garret was “seemingly apologetic” about dismissing the invite, and admitted he thought someone was trying to “hack” his address book.
Further explaining their conversation about snubbing the star-studded nuptials, she wrote: “‘So let me get this straight: You mean to tell me that we were invited… and you didn’t click on the invite?’ I asked.
“‘Yeah,’ he shrugged. ‘I guess I thought someone was trying to hack my address book or something.’ “
Psychotherapist Melissa had to leave the room because she was “reeling in frustration”.
Jacknife worked alongside Taylor on her 2012 album Red, during which she and Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody recorded their collaboration The Last Time at the pair’s music studio in Topanga, California.
While Melissa and Jacknife weren’t in attendance at Taylor and Travis’ wedding, lots of celebrities were, including Adam Sandler, who officiated the pair’s ceremony.
And the couple’s wedding guests were “floored” by the Hollywood actor officiating the ceremony, former NFL star Ryan Fitzpatrick has revealed.
Fitzpatrick, who attended the wedding with his wife Liza, told People: “We were very excited to get the invite and very privileged to be there.
“When Adam Sandler walked out – it had everybody floored, that was really cool. The ceremony was beautiful.”
