Jamie Oliver’s daughter engaged as romantic beach proposal delights famous family

Poppy Honey Oliver has announced her engagement to long-term partner Ben after a sunset beach proposal, with Jamie and Jools Oliver sharing their excitement on social media.

Jamie Oliver’s family is celebrating after his eldest daughter, Poppy Honey Oliver, announced her engagement to her long-term partner Ben.

Following a beach proposal at sunset, the television chef’s wife, Jools Oliver, shared the news on Instagram, revealing the couple had become engaged after five years together.

The announcement comes during another milestone year for Jamie, 51, who has continued to balance television projects, bestselling cookbooks and campaigning on healthy eating.

The chef, best known for The Naked Chef, his long-running restaurant ventures and school meals campaign, recently marked his 26th wedding anniversary with Jools, also 51, reflecting on their relationship after renewing their vows twice in recent years.

On Wednesday (05.08.26) however, the spotlight fell on their eldest child as the family celebrated her engagement.

Sharing a video of the proposal on Instagram, Jools wrote: “Probably one of my favourite reels so far. Our first baby Poppy Honey is getting married.

“We are so excited, proud and happy. Ben we all adore you. Little did I know as we moved Pop in to her second house at university, whilst I was sweating over your shoe rack flat pack you seemed very distracted with the boy who had just moved in next door…

“5 years later you had met you soul mate. so excited for the next chapter love you xxx @bennewman___ @katenewman.”

Jamie also marked the occasion on his Instagram Stories, writing: “Happy engagement my baby girl Poppy and Ben. I’m so please for you both. What a wonderful moment.”

The video showed Ben getting down on one knee on a beach at sunset before Poppy accepted the proposal.

The couple met while studying at university after Ben moved into the neighbouring property during Poppy’s second year.

Following graduation, they travelled around Australia together before returning to the UK.

Jamie and Jools are also parents to Daisy Boo, 23, Petal Blossom, 17, Buddy Bear, 15, and River Rocket, nine.

In 2024, Jamie spoke about Poppy’s return home after months of travelling with Ben around Australia, revealing she had surprised her mother.

Jamie said: “(It was) very emotional. So, she stayed in London, got over jet lag, freshened up, and then we took her home last night, Very emotional. Mum had no idea.”

The engagement follows another family celebration earlier this summer when Jamie shared a series of archive photographs to mark his and Jools’ 26th wedding anniversary.

Alongside the images, he wrote: “Just a little @joolsoliver appreciation post because she has truly been my rock for 26 years !! What would I do without her?”

Jamie and Jools married in 2000 before renewing their vows in the Maldives in 2023 and again in Las Vegas in 2024.

Last year, Jamie reflected on the longevity of their marriage during an interview with Good Housekeeping UK.

He said: “I wouldn’t be the first to say opposites attract. We get on very well and we genuinely like each other, but we’re also very different.

“That can create a certain tension, but it also seems to work, and I feel very blessed to have had 25 years.”

Jamie also spoke about Jools during an appearance on Davina McCall’s Begin Again podcast, where he discussed her neurodivergence and the role she has played in their family life.

He said: “She’s quite in the background and she’s done that on purpose. She’s definitely the rock. She’s got incredible instinct.

“She’s incredibly kind, very funny. I love her to bits. I can’t really talk for her but she has neurodiversities that make her life really interesting and really challenging.

“Of course there’s positives, but there’s loads of things that, you know – she makes us the way that we are. And I’m very grateful for Jools… and an amazing mum.”
