The Diplomat star Keri Russell enjoys her style ‘freedom’

Keri Russell has opened up about her approach to fashion and style.

Keri Russell enjoys the “freedom” of not wearing make-up.

The 50-year-old actress has recalled feeling like an outlier on the set of Felicity, the hit TV drama series, as many of her co-stars dressed far sexier than her own on-screen character.

Speaking to Variety, Keri – who starred on the show between 1998 and 2002 – shared: “Before I really knew what acting was, on Felicity, I would watch the girls.

“I was like, ‘Oh, right, I don’t have to do any of that.’ I didn’t wear makeup and wore big, baggy sweaters, and there’s a real freedom to that. You get to be funny; you get to be loose. It’s hard to do the other stuff.”

Keri – who is in a long-term relationship with actor Matthew Rhys – feels very comfortable with her current level of fame.

She shared: “I love the level of our life. I love having a job. I like occasionally getting into a restaurant when I can’t.”

Keri often buys her own outfits for red carpet appearances – but the situation suits Keri perfectly.

The actress – who has enjoyed success on stage and screen – said: “I sometimes can’t get a dress, because I am not, you know, someone famous. But that’s the reality of our station. And I think it’s perfect.”

Meanwhile, Keri previously observed that there’s a “real crossover” between acting and fashion.

The actress explained that fashion has become an increasingly important aspect of a movie star’s career.

She told WWD: “It’s become so prominent for actors.

“In the past, if you were a great actor, it didn’t mean you had to dress well, and now there’s a real crossover.

“I just think there’s so much money to be made, and there’s so much with social media — for better or worse, because I really don’t think everyone has to be a great dresser.

“Not everyone is fashionable, let’s be real. So it’s stressful in a way because now everyone is taking their turn and doing it, and not everyone should. Some people should just stick to plain stuff.”
