The 92-year-old singer – who announced in May that he was cancelling the remainder of his and The Four Seasons’ 2026 tour dates to “focus” on his health – recently denied his brother Bobby Valli’s suggestion he is retiring, and now his representative has stressed the Sherry hitmaker is “looking forward” to performing again when he can.
His spokesperson told People magazine: “[Frankie has] had some tough times, but he’s getting through them, and he’s improving. He is looking forward to being back on the road, and he is not retired.”
The comment comes after Frankie clarified he had no plans to hang up his microphone.
A statement on his Instagram page read: “In spite of what you might have heard, I am not retired.”
And Bobby also backtracked on his original post, insisting he had been “misinformed” when he declared the Grease hitmaker had retired.
He wrote in a new Facebook post: “I apologize, I was misinformed. I was under the impression my brother Frankie was retiring. Hoping for him to have a speedy recovery to continue his illustrious career!(sic)”
In his original post, Bobby had shared a photo of himself and Frankie together and paid tribute to the “living legend”.
He wrote: “My brother Frankie whom I am so proud of and love him dearly. He has had a wonderful life a dream come true.
“He is an incredible singer. Has had a magnificent career in music an icon a living legend. He had millions of fans who love him dearly.(sic)”
Bobby went on to list some of the Walk Like a Man singer’s achievements, including an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and selling over 100 million records.
He added: “He has been performing for six decades. He will now retire.
“We will always have special memories of Frankie Valli. He has reached a place in his life where his family is there to love, cherish and to be there for him. We appreciate your love and concern.”
In May, Frankie pulled out of the remaining dates on his farewell tour to focus on his health.
The veteran crooner, who launched his extended farewell tour The Last Encores in October 2023, confirmed all eight remaining performances in the scheduled run – including shows in Scottsdale, Arizona, and Detroit – had been cancelled.
He said: “I’m so sorry to disappoint the folks who have purchased tickets to my shows, but I have decided to take the rest of the year off from touring to focus on my health.”
And at the time, his representative explained it was important to cancel the shows rather than leave fans in limbo.
The spokesperson said: “Promoters want to prolong things and not give people their money back, but he needs to not keep rescheduling these shows.
“Frankie realised he needed to take a break and get his health in order, and that is the true issue — he wants to get better without prolonging, through the rescheduling process, the pain of people who’ve bought these tickets.”
