Panasonic launches two-in-one kitchen appliances combining speed and versatility

Panasonic have two new multifunctional products that maximise the use of time without compromising on flavour.

Panasonic is expanding its kitchen appliance range with two multifunctional products designed to reduce cooking time while offering a wider range of food preparation options.

The Panasonic 4-in-1 Air Fryer Combi Microwave Oven combines four cooking methods in a single appliance: microwave, air frying, convection cooking and quartz grilling. The 27-litre appliance features 19 automatic programmes and is designed to handle everything from everyday meals to baking and grilling.

Speed is a key feature. In testing, cornflake-coated chicken cooked using the microwave-combi function was ready in approximately six minutes. Despite the short cooking time, the chicken was cooked through with a crisp coating, demonstrating the advantage of combining microwave energy with circulating hot air.

The appliance is designed to provide the speed of microwave cooking alongside the browning and crisping associated with an air fryer. Panasonic says the air-frying function can accommodate up to 800g of food, making it suitable for family-sized portions.

The combination of cooking technologies also extends to baking. A baked cheesecake took only a few minutes to cook and produced a set centre with a lightly caramelised surface, illustrating how the appliance can be used for more than quick savoury meals.

Panasonic’s second launch takes a different approach to multifunctionality. Its Mini Bread and Ice Cream Maker combines bread making with frozen dessert preparation in a compact appliance.

The machine can produce loaves of up to 500g and features 34 programmes covering a range of recipes, including different types of bread and pizza dough. It also automates several stages of the bread-making process, including kneading and the addition of ingredients such as nuts, seeds and raisins.

The appliance is also equipped to make ice cream, sorbet and frozen yoghurt. Its removable bowl needs to be frozen in advance, after which the machine handles the churning process.

The bread produced during testing had a crisp exterior and soft, springy centre, while the frozen yoghurt had a smooth and creamy consistency.

Although the two products target different areas of cooking, both reflect a broader trend towards multifunctional kitchen technology. Rather than requiring separate appliances for microwaving, air frying, baking and grilling, the 4-in-1 oven combines those functions in one unit. Similarly, the Mini Bread and Ice Cream Maker brings fresh bread and frozen dessert preparation together.

For consumers with limited kitchen space, the appeal is straightforward. The appliances offer multiple cooking functions while prioritising convenience and, in the case of the combi oven, significantly reducing preparation and cooking times.

Panasonic’s latest launches therefore focus less on adding technology for its own sake and more on combining established cooking methods into appliances designed to make everyday food preparation faster and more versatile.
