Cindy Crawford reflects on her ‘learning experiences’

Cindy Crawford has reflected on her short-lived acting career.

Cindy Crawford’s short-lived acting career was one of her biggest “learning experiences”.

The 60-year-old model landed a handful of acting roles in the 90s, including Fair Game, the 1995 action-thriller film, and 54, the 1998 drama film, and Cindy now admits that she learned a lot from those experiences.

The model said at the Forbes Power Women’s Summit: “I think even the things that you try and that maybe don’t succeed in the way that you hope they would, they’re still learning experiences.”

Cindy also revealed the quirky way that her first acting job came her way.

She said: “As a model and you’re on the cover of magazines, like all of a sudden you’re getting scripts sent to you and people maybe wanna act.

“And actually the first time I got an audition, they handed me a script and [said] ‘Can you read this?’ And I just started reading it and it was with [director] Mike Nichols, and he’s like, ‘Oh, well, you can read.’ Like, he didn’t say, ‘Can you act this?’ And I’m a very literal person. So I was like, ‘Oh, he meant, like, I should actually perform this. I wish he would’ve said that.’”

Cindy recalled being “raked over the coals” for her on-screen performances.

The brunette beauty ultimately realised that she’s better suited to modelling.

She said: “I realised in doing that film, I’m very comfortable in front of the camera being Cindy Crawford.

“As soon as you try to put words in my mouth that aren’t me, I couldn’t even believe it … for me professionally, it was like, ‘I can shut that road.’”

Cindy found quitting acting to be “freeing”.

She explained: “It helped me double my efforts in the things that I do like and that I can feel comfortable and I feel like I’m good at.”

Meanwhile, Cindy previously revealed that she doesn’t give unsolicited advice to her children.

The model – who has Presley, 27, and Kaia, 25, with her husband, Rande Gerber – told the Kelly Corrigan Wonders: About Your Mother podcast: “They know if they ask me, they’re going to get my real opinion.

“But if they don’t ask me … I really try hard, and I’m probably about 70 percent good at this … I try not to offer unsolicited advice.”
