Pop star Rita Ora has passed her driving test after spending more than a decade taking lessons.
Rita Ora has finally passed her driving test.
The 35-year-old pop star has spent years taking lessons and has now confirmed she’s a fully fledged driver by sharing a picture showing herself holding her new certificate and posing next to her Dollar Driving School car in Los Angeles.
Rita shared a series of images from the last few days on Instagram and wrote: “It’s been a week”.
The singer was first pictured taking driving lessons back in 2014 after her then-boyfriend, DJ Calvin Harris, reportedly bought her a £100,000 car to encourage her to learn to drive after they moved in together in Los Angeles.
A source told The Sun newspaper at the time: “Rita’s never needed to worry about getting around before – it’s either taxis, the Tube or walking. That’s not the way it happens in LA. Unless you have a car, doing anything is impossible.
“She doesn’t want to have to rely on Calvin to be designated driver.”
However, Rita had to wait another 12 years to pass her test.
Rita split from Calvin back in 2014 and she’s now married to director Taika Waititi.
The singer recently revealed she’s hoping to start a family with her husband – who already has Te Kainga o te Hinekahu, 14, and Matewa Kiritapu, 10, with ex-wife Chelsea Winstanley – after freezing her eggs when she was in her mid-20s.
Rita told The Times magazine: “He says, ‘Good job for planning ahead, girl’.”
The Hot Right Now hitmaker initially feared it would be “impossible” to have a child with Taika because they are always so busy, but she has taken inspiration from former New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who had her daughter Neve in 2018.
She said: “I have a lovely time with my stepdaughters and I’d love to add to our family but … when? I used to think with both of our careers it would be impossible, but I’ve become friendly with Jacinda Ardern and she is my inspiration.
“Jacinda took her baby everywhere. She even breastfed her at the United Nations, which to me is proof of what a woman who loves her job can achieve.”
