Josh Brolin sells sprawling Georgia estate for $4 million

Josh Brolin and his wife, Kathryn Boyd Brolin, have sold their 7,700-square-foot Sandy Springs home.

Josh Brolin has sold his sprawling Georgia estate for $4 million.

The 58-year-old actor and his 38-year-old wife, actress Kathryn Boyd Brolin, purchased the 7,700-square-foot Sandy Springs mansion in 2020 for $3.25 million.

Set on a gated 1.48-acre lot, the seven-bedroom, 7.5-bathroom home was initially listed for $4.999 million in April before being taken off the market and relisted at $4.75 million, according to Realtor.com.

Josh, whose former property was previously on the rental market at $35,000 a month, has previously been vocal about not being a fan of the suburb, located just outside of Atlanta.

During the Atlanta Film Festival in May, he said it was a “major plus” to film Weapons in the city because it meant being close to his and Kathryn’s daughters, Westlyn, seven, and five-year-old Chapel.

In a TikTok video filmed by journalist DeWayne Hamby, Josh said: “It’s an easy town. And what I love about Atlanta especially is it’s so diverse.

“We have a house in Sandy Springs, which I don’t particularly like. I just don’t. I’m just being honest. But downtown, like Inman Park and all that, I love.”

Explaining why he disliked the neighbourhood, the Avengers: Infinity War star continued: “I like a little grit, you know what I mean? There’s not a lot of grit in Sandy Springs.”

In February 2024, Josh and Kathryn purchased a $7.1 million farmhouse in Santa Barbara, California.

And the move came after he opened up about how the stress of relocating to the area had triggered a “mild case of Bell’s palsy”.

Per the National Health Service (NHS), the condition causes “temporary weakness or a lack of movement that usually affects one side of the face”.

On an episode of Sirius XM’s Literally! With Rob Lowe podcast, Josh explained: “I got so stressed out about moving here because it represented something very specific to me that I ended up contracting a mild case of Bell’s palsy. From the stress.”

The Goonies alum experienced similar symptoms years earlier when he considered moving back to his hometown of Montecito, California.

Josh said: “The last time I got Bell’s palsy was 17 years ago when I was thinking about moving back up here. So the two times I’ve gotten Bell’s palsy are when I was thinking about moving up here.”
