Dolly Parton returns with heartbreaking posthumous message

Country superstar Dolly Parton sent a message to teachers across the world in a video which was recorded shortly before her death in August.

Dolly Parton sent a poignant message to the world in a video recorded shortly before her death.

The country superstar passed away on August 25 at the age of 80 after a secret battle with cancer and prior to her passing she filmed a video which was played at the CMA Foundation Music Teachers of Excellence event in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday (07.10.26).

The video was introduced by fellow musician Zac Brown, who told the audience: “Not long before we lost her, she recorded a special message for the teachers in this room. She took the time to speak directly to you and I can’t think of a better way to begin this night.

“When I think about legacy, I think about what we create, but even more than that, I think about what we give away.

“This is how our life continues to reach people long after a moment has passed. Few people understand that better than Dolly Parton.

“Dolly gave the world extraordinary songs but her legacy reaches far beyond music. She gave people hope. She believed in children. And she used everything she built to create opportunities for others. So please join me in hearing from Dolly.”

Dolly’s video message was then played to the audience at The Pinnacle venue which was made up of many teachers from across the US who had been invited to Nashville for the ceremony.

The late singer said: “Well hey there, it’s Dolly and I am so happy to welcome you to Nashville as the CMA Foundation celebrates 10 years of Music Teachers of Excellence.

“Now I’m excited that you’re all staying at my new Songteller Hotel and I’m thrilled that you’re getting to see my Life of Many Colors Museum.

“You know I’ve always believed that music brings people together. But none of that happens without dedicated teachers who encourage, inspire and believe in the next generation and that’s why we’re celebrating tonight.

“To every music teacher of excellence, I want to thank you for your passion, patience, and care that you give your students each day. Congratulations on this incredible milestone and keep making beautiful music together.”

As well as launching her own charity fun, the Dollywood Foundation in 1988, Dolly also founded the Imagination Library, which distributes books to children across the world.
