Mikey Madison has opened up about her experience of shooting The Social Reckoning.
Mikey Madison was “playing against a lot of [her] instincts” while shooting The Social Reckoning.
The 27-year-old actress plays whistleblower Frances Haugen in The Social Reckoning, the sequel to 2010’s The Social Network, and Mikey admits that she found the shoot to be a challenge.
The Hollywood star – who won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in Anora, the 2024 romantic comedy-drama movie – told Extra: “Obviously, I know Aaron Sorkin’s very singular style and, like, the pacing that he tends to like … I feel like at times I was really playing against a lot of my instincts just because I’m not someone who rattles off like that, but I guess Frances is.
“Even now, I take quite a bit of time to process things before saying them. But I think that it really lent itself to my character because she’s someone who is sort of, like, uncomfortable in her own skin. And so, I think that process of every period, every comma being quite intentional and not leaving a lot of space in-between was really helpful for me.”
Mikey previously admitted that her life was changed by the success of Anora.
The award-winning actress told WWD: “I feel like I’ve grown a lot in some ways, which is interesting. I’ve been able to experience going to lots of different countries and showing our film to various audience members. I feel lucky to have this experience — it definitely wasn’t one that I was expecting, and so it’s been a very pleasant surprise, all of it.”
Despite this, Mikey was ultimately glad to return home and escape the pressures of fame and success.
The film star explained: “I think that there is something to be said about returning to your space and somewhere that feels comfortable and safe for you. And my home is definitely that for me, which is why I’ve been frantically reorganizing and cleaning and tidying and all that stuff because it’s important.”
