Sam Fender to headline Glastonbury?

Sam Fender is set to headline Glastonbury next year.

Sam Fender is set to headline Glastonbury.

The Rein Me In hitmaker is said to be “over the moon” after landing one of the coveted slots on the Pyramid Stage at Worthy Farm next June and while the line-up won’t be officially announced until the spring, he’s reportedly been unable to keep the news to himself.

A source told the Mail on Sunday newspaper: “Sam is over the moon, it’s a major milestone in his career and he’s so excited he’s even been telling his neighbours.”

The 32-year-old singer’s close friend, Lewis Capaldi, is said to have been campaigning for the Seventeen Going Under hitmaker to land the coveted headline slot.

Another source said: “Lewis has been gunning for Sam to get the headline slot. He’s been bringing Sam on stage at his gigs just to get him more out there and more talked-about.”

Sam previously performed on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage in 2022, three years after pulling out of the festival at the last minute due to illness.

Tickets for next year’s festival – which has a capacity of 210,000 – sold out in just 42 minutes last weekend.

The festival posted less than an hour after they went on sale last Sunday (04.10.26): “Thank you to everyone who bought one and we’re sorry to those of you who missed out on a morning where demand greatly exceeded supply.

“There will be a resale of any cancelled or returned tickets in Spring 2027.”

Festival organiser Emily Eavis recently confirmed that Oasis – who will be in the midst of their much-anticipated 2027 tour – won’t be headlining.

When a social media user asked if the Gallagher brothers would be at Worthy Farm, Eavis commented: “Sorry Jimmy, not this time.”

Emily confirmed in August that all three 2027 headliners had been booked as she debunked rumours of Madonna topping the bill.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s PM programme, she said: “No, it’s definitely not Madonna, I’ll tell you that. But we have got three headliners and we’re very excited about it – it’s all coming together really well.

“Pretty much 95 per cent of the stories [about Glastonbury] you read are not true, and rumours are pretty much always wrong. But the good news is that we’ve got our headliners and we’re cracking on, and we just can’t wait to get back.”

Meanwhile, it was reported last month that Lily Allen has been invited by Emily to perform at Glastonbury next year following the success of her ‘revenge album’ West End Girl in 2025.

A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Emily loves Lily and sees her as one of Britain’s musical greats.

“Earlier this summer she officially asked Lily if she would play at Glastonbury next year.

“As long as her schedule allows it, I’m sure she will accept.

“Lily has a long history with Glasto, and to return to the festival after all this time would really be a sign she’s back to her best.”
