Selena Gomez warned fans to steer clear of vaping, having experienced permanent side effects from doing so herself.
Selena Gomez has warned of the dangers of vaping, admitting doing so herself “changed” her voice.
The 34-year-old singer told fans in an Instagram Story on Sunday (18.10.26) that her voice had been permanently altered due to her former habit.
She said: “I’m not gonna be able to change my voice. I vaped nicotine a lot.
“Nicotine is so hard to quit, and I think I just wanted to say, if you’re going through it or if you’re even trying to vape, it’s just not worth it.”
Selena added that her decision to vape in the first place was “so stupid”, sighing: “It changed my voice”.
She appeared to hit back at trolls who had taken aim at her changed voice in comments online, as she concluded: “So if you guys don’t like listening to my voice, that’s totally understandable. I don’t mind. Just don’t listen to it.”
The Only Murders in the Building star went on to tell her followers that her own journey to quit nicotine has been “really hard”. but she’s doing her best to steer clear of the habit.
Selena added of her abstinence: “I just hope I can keep it up. If you are going through something, you can get through it too.”
The Kill Em With Kindness singer previously opened up about her changed voice during an Instagram Live session last December, as she responded to a question from a fan.
Selena, who suffers from autoimmune disease lupus, said: “I’ve gotten this question a few times. The voice thing.
“Sometimes things happen. I get weird. My throat kind of swells inside sometimes. That’s all.”
She appeared to be considering opening up further to her followers, perhaps about the vaping, as she continued: “So sometimes when I’m on… never mind.
“There’s no excuse, I don’t really care.”
