Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz’s son wants to follow in their musical footsteps

Ashlee Simpson has revealed her son Bronx, who she has with Fall Out Boy rocker ex husband Pete Wentz, is planning to join the family business.

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz’s teenage son wants to follow in their footsteps.

The 42-year-old pop star and her Fall Out Boy rocker ex-husband have 17-year-old son Bronx together, and ahead of his 18th birthday on November 20, he’s clearly been influenced by his famous parents.

Ashlee told E! News: “I’m about to be a mom of an 18 year old, which is just so wild. A lot of my kids love music, especially my oldest.”

Bronx is planning to study music at college, and the Boyfriend singer is keen to “see where that takes him”.

She added: “I’m so proud of him, and I love that boy.”

Ashlee also has kids Jagger, 11, and five-year-old Ziggy with husband Evan Ross.

Back in 2024, she admitted she had won the “co-parenting lottery” with ex Pete, who she was married to between 2008 and 2011.

During an appearance on the Broad Ideas with Rachel Bilson and Olivia Allen podcast, Ashlee shared: “Co-parenting has for me been amazing. Pete’s a great guy.”

Asked if she’s won the “co-parenting lottery”, she raved: “Exactly! That’s what I was just about to say. Won the co-parenting lottery.”

And her husband Evan also has a good relationship with her eldest child.

She added: “I feel like also we started when Bronx was two and a half so he didn’t know different.”

Meanwhile, Pete has insisted in the past that he doesn’t “have all the answers” about sharing parenting duties.

The Sugar We’re Going Down star, who also has two kids with his partner Meagan Camper, told Us Weekly magazine: “[I don’t] have all the answers. Telling somebody what the key to [coparenting] is would be insane. I think it’s important to listen and to give people balance.”

The couple got engaged in 2014 and married later that year, and she previously opened up about how Evan keeps their relationship exciting.

She told E! News: “That friendship is so deep and it’s so amazing.

“He surprises me and he takes me to do fun things, so I feel like those moments where you step outside of just parenting and connect is so nice.”

Meanwhile, she pointed out that being good parents also helps their marriage.

She explained: “Just to listen to your kids and follow what they’re wanting and needing.”
