Karol G is keen to continue to push herself as an artist.
Karol G is “not scared to fail”.
The 35-year-old singer was born and raised in Medellín, Colombia, but Karol is keen to make music that caters to her English-speaking fans, too – even though it isn’t easy for her.
The chart-topping star told Interview magazine: “When I listen to myself in English, my voice changes a little bit.
“It took time to feel comfortable enough to do it. I want to be good, but I’m not scared to fail. I don’t know if I was ready then, but I’m ready now.
“I learned how to communicate. I understood that 100 percent of the people who come to my show in the US are Latinos, but for most of them, their first language is English. So it’s a way to give them a song from the artist they love in their first language. I’m so excited to keep exploring.”
Meanwhile, Karol previously explained that she “found purpose through [her] music”.
The singer won the International Artist Award of Excellence at the American Music Awards in Las Vegas, and Karol used her acceptance speech to explain how music has changed her life.
Karol – who was handed the gong by John Legend – said at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in May: “Wow. What an honour, John, that you gave me this award. It’s a legend. This is going to be a legend moment in my career, for sure.
“I feel very, very grateful. First of all, thank you, God. He allows me to live the most incredible, amazing experience in my life. I want to say that more than anything, this career has given me the most important thing in my life: purpose.
“I found purpose through my music. I’m just happy that I can perform a song, and I can say things in my songs that become a voice for a lot of people. A healing place, a safe place, and I just think that my life is meaningful because of my music and to help others through it.”
