American Horror Story future confirmed days before season 13 finale

American Horror Story: 13 is set to end on October 29, and now fans know whether or not to expect another season in the future.

American Horror Story has officially been renewed for a 14th season.

The spooky anthology series, which was co-created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuck, is partway through season 13, with the finale set to air on October 29.

Now, it’s been confirmed that FX has commissioned another run of episodes to keep the show rolling after 15 years on the air and counting.

The series started with Murder House back in 2011, followed by Asylum, Coven, Freak Show, Hotel and Roanoke.

From there, fans have been treated to Cult, Apocalypse, 1984, Double Feature, NYC and Delicate.

The current AHS: 13 run has brought together elements from several past seasons, with the likes of Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Jessica Lange all reprising multiple roles.

Despite viewers tuning in for the 13th season, showrunner Ryan has insisted he won’t be repeating this level of casting stunt in the future.

Speaking at the season 13 premiere, he recently told The Hollywood Reporter: “Never! Never, no, no. I don’t think it would ever happen again. I don’t think I would ever want to do it again.”

However, Ryan did point out the actors could all return with some characters being reprised, but not to this level.

He added: “I mean, I would like to work with all those actors and have some of the characters come back.”

Ryan noted that he wants to keep making American Horror Story “forever”, and he’s already writing the next season of the show.

Offering a hint of what to expect, he teased: “I love doing it. I really want this show to go international.

“I’m interested in: what is an international version of Horror Story? That’s something I’m writing right now, maybe, but I don’t know — I just like branching out.”

As well as the main AHS seasons, Ryan also branched out with American Horror Stories for three seasons between 2021 and 2024, which generally featured a different story for each individual episode.

Meanwhile, Ryan is keeping busy, with his other TV creations still on air including Monster, 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Nashville, All’s Fair, The Beauty and teen thriller The Shards.
