Jacob Elordi narrating late Euphoria dad Eric Dane‘s posthumous audiobook memoir

Eric Dane, who died in February, portrayed Cal Jacobs, the dad of Nate Jacobs, played by Jacob Elordi, in HBO’s Euphoria.

Jacob Elordi is narrating his late Euphoria dad Eric Dane’s posthumous audiobook memoir.

The 29-year-old star, who played Nate Jacobs, the son of Eric’s character, Cal Jacobs, in the HBO psychological drama series, is the main narrator of My Book of Days: A Memoir in Moments, a Penguin Random House representative confirmed to Entertainment Weekly.

Former First Lady of California Maria Shriver, 70, whose imprint The Open Field is publishing the book on November 3, is also listed as a narrator, reading the “Dear Reader” chapter, which she wrote herself.

Eric, who died in February at the age of 53 after battling ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), previously spoke about working with Jacob ahead of their reunion in the third season of Euphoria, which aired earlier this year.

The late entertainer filmed scenes for the season before his death, marking his final on-screen appearance.

Eric told Too Fab: “Jacob and I have a pretty profound amount of respect for each other off set.

“He’s a really great person. And he’s a lot of fun to work with. He’s a super committed actor, which allows us to sort of talk craft here and there. And we love doing that. It’s just a great time working with him.”

The Grey’s Anatomy star died 10 months after he publicly shared his diagnosis of ALS – a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks nerve cells and causes loss of muscle control.

Eric’s family said in a statement to People: “With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS.

“He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the centre of his world.

“Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight.

“He will be deeply missed, and lovingly remembered always. Eric adored his fans and is forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support he’s received. The family has asked for privacy as they navigate this impossible time.”

Eric is survived by his daughters, Billie, 16, and Georgia, 14, and his 55-year-old wife, actress Rebecca Gayheart.

Maria was one of many people to pay tribute to the actor shortly after his death.

Taking to X, she wrote: “I’m heartbroken by this devastating news about Eric Dane. What a tragedy. He was so heroic the way he handled his diagnosis. He used his voice to let the world know what it was like living with ALS.

“I was honored he chose my publishing imprint to publish his memoir. He told me he wanted his family to know how much he loved them, and he wanted to leave them a story they could be proud of.

“My love goes out to his family, and to all those battling this cruel disease, as well as all those caring for someone battling it.

“Godspeed, Eric. It was an honor to know you, and we will honor your story.”
