Bill Bailey is taking viewers on a comedic tour of Azeroth in a new three-part World of Warcraft nature documentary celebrating the launch of World of Warcraft: Forever.
Bill Bailey is swapping the stage for Azeroth after Blizzard Entertainment unveiled a new comedic nature documentary series set in the World of Warcraft universe.
World of Warcraft: Planet Azeroth is a three-part series starring the comedian, actor and musician as both the voice and in-game character of a Dwarven adventurer.
Bailey will guide viewers through some of Azeroth’s most recognisable locations, including the forests of Elwynn and the frozen wilderness of Winterspring.
The series has been created to celebrate the launch of World of Warcraft: Forever, a new World of Warcraft game set in a reimagined version of Azeroth inspired by the original game.
This time, the world itself is being positioned as the main character, with players encouraged to explore its environments and discover new adventures.
For Planet Azeroth, Bailey has been transformed into his own Dwarven adventurer, armed with little more than curiosity and his trademark sense of humour.
Across the three episodes, he’ll encounter some of Azeroth’s most infamous inhabitants, including Murlocs and Kobolds, while exploring the stranger corners of the Warcraft universe.
The 61-year-old comedian said: “I’ve always been fascinated by the natural world, but nothing quite prepares you for Azeroth.
“The creatures are extraordinary, the landscapes are stunning and, unlike many other nature documentaries I’ve been involved in, I managed to stay dry and not get bitten by something.”
Blizzard says the series is intended to capture the same sense of discovery that has kept players returning to Azeroth for more than 20 years, while also providing an introduction for people who may never have played World of Warcraft.
World of Warcraft executive producer Holly Longdale said: “Bill’s curiosity, humour, and genuine sense of wonder make him the ideal guide to a world that has been home to millions of players.”
The first episode of World of Warcraft: Planet Azeroth is available now on the official World of Warcraft YouTube channel. Episode two will follow on October 31, with the final episode arriving on November 1.
Considering Azeroth is home to everything from dragons and undead armies to creatures that look like particularly angry frogs, Bailey may have found the world’s most chaotic nature documentary assignment yet.
