Noah Wyle claims Eddie Murphy brutally snubbed autograph request when he was just ‘a kid’

Noah Wyle has revealed how an interaction with Eddie Murphy shaped the way he treats his own encounters with young fans.

Noah Wyle has claimed Eddie Murphy told him to “f*** off” when he asked for an autograph as a child.

The 55-year-old actor, best known for his role as Dr. Michael ‘Robby’ Robinavitch in The Pitt, has recalled the awkward moment he met the Saturday Night Live legend and got turned down in a brutal way when he tried to get his signature.

He told Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast: “I met Eddie once when I was a kid. I asked him for his autograph, and I said, ‘I really like you on SNL’.

“And he goes, ‘What are you doing up that late?’”

Noah remembered letting out a nervous laugh before asking a second time.

He added: “And I said, ‘Can I have your autograph?’ He goes, ‘F*** off, man.'”

Noah insisted the memory of their interaction means he will never turn down a young fan asking for an autograph.

He explained: “I always sign an autograph. Whenever a nine year old needs an autograph from me, I sign that so fast.”

In an adorable twist, the father-of-three – who has Owen, 23, and Auden, 21, with ex Tracy Warbin and daughter Frances, who turned 11 in June, with his wife Sara Wyle – has revealed the moment his youngest tried to make things right after hearing the story.

He said: “So, I’ve told this story in my house and last year for my birthday, my daughter didn’t know what to get me.

“My 10-year-old daughter printed up a picture of Eddie Murphy and then wrote on it, ‘Dear Noah, you’re a great kid, Eddie Murphy.’ And she spelled Eddie E-d–d-y.

“And I have it framed in my office. It’s the greatest gift that my 10-year-old thought, ‘You know what?’ And then she came up with the story.

“She’s like, ‘Dad, you’re never going to believe who mom and I saw yesterday. Eddie Murphy. And we got what you’ve always wanted, his autograph.’ “

Eddie, who would have been in his late teens or early 20s around the time of the encounter, hasn’t responded to Noah’s recollection yet.

However, he previously reflected on having to deal with fame at a young age.

He told the New York Times’ The Interview podcast: “Just imagine being a young person and having the world placed at your feet.

“Nobody’s saying ‘no’, and everybody wants to be around you. You try all types of s*** and get caught up in all kinds of stuff.”
