Ricki Lake says Rosie O’Donnell was ‘a little judgy’ about her getting a facelift

Ricki Lake had a deep-plane lower face and neck lift in 2024 to fix the loose extra skin that hung below her chin after she shed 40 lbs to reach her 130-lb goal weight.

Ricki Lake says her pal Rosie O’Donnell was initially “a little judgy” about her decision to get a facelift.

The 58-year-old former talk show host had a deep-plane lower face and neck lift in 2024 to fix the loose extra skin that hung below her chin after she shed 40 lbs to reach her 130-lb goal weight, but her 64-year-old pal felt she did not need cosmetic surgery until Rosie lost 50 lbs and had one herself.

Appearing on ABC’s The Weekend View on Saturday (31.10.26), the Hairspray actress said: “Rosie is my really good friend, and we talk all the time. She was judgy. She would admit it. She was a little judgy about me and my friends that went to this doctor and had these amazing results.

“And sure enough, she lost a bunch of weight … and she went and had it done. She looks phenomenal.”

Ricki insisted she was not “trying to look 20”, but wanted to feel like herself again after losing so much weight.

And the Serial Mom entertainer embraces ageing, adding: “I have my natural grey hair. I really own my age, and I love the age I’m at.”

In a May Substack post, Rosie admitted she used to think undergoing a facelift was a “betrayal” and previously vowed to “never ever” have such surgery.

But after shedding 50 lbs, she started to research such procedures and eventually went under the knife for a lower deep-plane facelift in January.

The Flintstones actress wrote: “I used to feel very strongly about facelifts. Not casually – morally. I had assigned myself as head of all women who would never – ever. I thought it was a betrayal. Of feminism. Of aging. Of our team of women worldwide.

“And then I lost 50 pounds…

“It wasn’t wrinkles – it was gravity. I’d look in the mirror and think, this isn’t aging, this is melting with intention.

“There’s a point where acceptance starts to feel like lying. (sic)”

Rosie’s 13-year-old daughter Clay advised her against going under the knife, saying she “wouldn’t be able to respect” her mother if she went through with it, and advising her that other women “look up” to her.

Following Clay’s comments, the Tarzan star delayed her op “for months” before eventually deciding to go through with it.

She wrote: “I want them [her children] to grow up in a world where they don’t feel like they have to change. But also knows they can, if they want to, without losing moral standing in their own life.”

At the time, the former Rosie O’Donnell Show host admitted “no one has noticed” since she underwent her facelift, and her Clay has “not said a word”.
