Rosamund Pike overcome by ‘confusing emotions’ after winning her first Olivier Award

Following the actress getting her first Olivier Award – for her performance in Inter Alia – Rosamund Pike has said she was overcome by “confusing emotions”.

Rosamund Pike has said she was overcome by “confusing emotions” after winning her first Olivier Award for her performance in Inter Alia.

The 47-year-old actress received the Best Actress award at the 2026 Olivier Awards, held at the Royal Albert Hall and hosted by Nick Mohammed.

Rosamund wrote on Instagram after the event: “Oh what a night… I still can’t believe it. CONFUSING emotions.”

She added: “The recognition and support from that huge packed Albert Hall was so overwhelmingly beautiful.”

Rosamund also said: “I think the little girl in me remembered her dream of being an actress, of getting somehow to be part of the magic of theatre, and the woman in me (still shy on stage without the protection of a character) managed to stand steady and bring acceptance… finding words for an acceptance speech… whilst also feeling acceptance from this huge crowd.”

The Inter Alia production, staged at the National Theatre’s Lyttelton venue, marks the actress’ return to theatre after 14 years.

Written by Suzie Miller, the play centres on a Crown Court judge whose professional and personal lives collide.

During her Olivier Awards acceptance speech, Rosamund thanked her co-stars Jamie Glover, Jasper Talbot and Cormac McAlinden, and spoke about balancing work and family life.

She said: “The irony is, that here I am doing a play about the juggle of being a woman, of being a professional working woman with a family and a job.

“And the fact is I’m only able to do this performance because I have a wonderful man at home who is looking after our children. And that is the truth of it and the irony. Robie, thank you.”

Rosamund was referring to her partner Robie Uniacke, with whom she shares two sons.

Inter Alia is set to transfer to Broadway later this year under the direction of Justin Martin, opening at the Music Box Theatre on 1 December.

The collaboration reunites Justin with Suzie, following their previous work on Prima Facie, which starred Jodie Comer as a lawyer, which also later transferred to Broadway.

Other winners at the Olivier ceremony included Rachel Zegler for Evita, Jack Holden for Kenrex, Paapa Essiedu for All My Sons and productions including Paddington, Punch and Oh, Mary!.

Rosamund is also due to appear in upcoming films including In the Grey, Ladies First and Wife and Dog.
