Fresh comments from Justin Baldoni’s supporters have reignited tensions surrounding the It Ends With Us legal battle, with insiders alleging the actress’s Hollywood standing has suffered after the high-profile dispute.
Blake Lively is said to be facing the prospect of a Justin Baldoni “tell-all” following the pair’s explosive legal battle over It Ends With Us.
The dispute between actress Blake, 38, and Justin, 42, became one of the entertainment industry’s most closely watched scandals after tensions surrounding the making of the Colleen Hoover book adaptation erupted into a public courtroom fight in December 2024.
Blake accused Justin – who directed and co-starred in the domestic abuse drama opposite her – of sexual harassment and orchestrating a smear campaign designed to damage her reputation.
Justin and his production company, Wayfarer Studios, denied the allegations and filed a countersuit against Blake and her husband Ryan Reynolds, accusing them of defamation and extortion.
Last week, both parties confirmed they had reached an undisclosed out-of-court settlement following months of legal wrangling and extensive media coverage.
Adam Mondschein, who appeared in the film as a doctor during its controversial delivery-room sequence, has publicly sided with Justin and claimed the actor had been deeply hurt by the dispute.
He said: “I have very firm feelings about the actions that (Blake) took, and she hurt my friend and has been hurting my friend. I think he really wants to tell his story, and he deserves to be heard. To let sunlight in on this has been the thing that I feel her camp has been avoiding.”
The comments add to the continuing fallout surrounding the film adaptation, which had initially been promoted as a major prestige project for both stars.
Blake, best known for playing Serena van der Woodsen in Gossip Girl and more recently praised for her fashion appearances and high-profile marriage to Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds, had entered the dispute as one of Hollywood’s most commercially bankable actresses.
Justin, meanwhile, had cultivated a reputation through projects including Jane the Virgin, Five Feet Apart and his public advocacy surrounding masculinity and emotional wellbeing.
An industry source has now told RadarOnline.com the legal battle had damaged Blake’s standing in some corners of Hollywood despite the settlement agreement.
The insider said: “Blake is the utter loser in all this, as it became far more bruising than anyone expected. Blake went into this as one of the most powerful women in entertainment and came out of it facing questions she never anticipated. Plus, she is now viewed as toxic, and people will be very wary of working with her now.
“Plus, if Justin wants to do a book or tell-all interview, it could totally destroy her.”
Adam also suggested Justin had mixed feelings about the settlement, claiming the actor was disappointed the case would not proceed to a full public hearing.
He added: “I can’t imagine what it must be like to be inside of (Lively’s) mind.”
Justin’s lawyer Bryan Freedman later discussed the settlement negotiations and argued the legal picture had shifted dramatically before the agreement was reached.
Mr Freedman said: “You know, I wouldn’t say which side kind of came to the table first. I think there was an urgency to try to get it done as quickly as possible. I think that Justin and the other individuals felt pretty comfortable where they were at the time.
“Ten of the 13 claims were gone as a result of the summary judgment motion. Five individuals were out of the case.”
He added: “You were left with a case that was really Blake Lively versus It Ends with Us, the movie LLC, the agency group, and Wayfarer Studios, so it was a very different case at the point in time that we had those settlement discussions than ever was before.”
Bryan declined to discuss the settlement terms but said Justin was “ecstatic” following the agreement.
In a joint statement released through representatives, Blake and Justin attempted to close the chapter publicly.
The statement said: “The end product – the movie It Ends With Us – is a source of pride to all of us who worked to bring it to life.
“Raising awareness, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors – and all survivors – is a goal that we stand behind. We acknowledge the process presented challenges and recognise concerns raised by Ms. Lively deserved to be heard.”
The statement concluded: “We remain firmly committed to workplaces free of improprieties and unproductive environments. It is our sincere hope that this brings closure and allows all involved to move forward constructively and in peace, including a respectful environment online.”
