Madonna has admitted she used to date guys just so she could use their bathroom facilities in 1980s New York City.

The 67-year-old singer reflected on her single days in 1980s New York City and admitted she would quiz her admirers on the facilities they had at home before deciding whether it was worth going out with them or not.
Playing the Rent Free game show for Bilt, she laughed in a clip shared to Instagram: “I would date guys based on whether they had bathtubs and showers I could use.
“I’d be like, ‘So where do you live?’ And they’re like, ‘I live on the Upper West Side.’ And I’m like, ‘Do you have a bathtub?’ That was a big plus for me.
“I’d go to this guy or potential boyfriend’s house and take a bath or a shower. And eat their mother’s home cooking!”
The Material Girl hitmaker – who is mother to Lourdes, 29, Rocco, 25, David, 20, Mercy, also 20, and 13-year-old twins Stella and Estere – also recalled a terrifying incident when she woke up surrounded by fire.
Asked her worst stories of property renting, she said: I accidentally started a fire. I was living illegally in a building, in the garment district, there was no heat in the dead of winter – everyone knows how cold New York winters are.
“I was sleeping on the floor in a sleeping bag and surrounded myself with space heaters, it started an electrical fire. I woke up surrounded by flames.
“I didn’t have anywhere to live so I escaped to this building called the music building on Eighth Avenue.”
Madonna also revealed she isn’t interested in people who don’t read.
Asked what people thought were her unexpected hobbies, she correctly guessed gardening before incorrectly listing fishing and washing the dishes.
She then exclaimed: “Oh, reading! That’s not unexpected, you don’t read, I don’t speak to you.
“It’s sad to think that’s a hobby….
“Riding horses. It can be [fancy] depending on where you ride. Praying, meditation, horseriding.
“If a guy wants to pick up a girl, like impress a girl, say you read War and Peace.”
Madonna has come a long way since her struggling days in New York City, and it was recently reported she took her own private chef onboard a British airways flight from Los Angeles to London Heathrow.
The chef is said to have prepared sushi for the Music singer and her boyfriend Akeem Morris, 30, before their 11‑hour journey to the UK.
A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “Madonna is strict about her lifestyle and avoids processed foods. She has the luxury of taking her private chef when travelling. He knows exactly what she eats to ensure she is sufficiently nourished when travelling between timezones.”
