Frankie Grande suffers concussion after on stage accident in Titanique

Frankie Grande has revealed how a simple stunt went wrong on Broadway, leaving him with a concussion.

Frankie Grande suffered a concussion after getting hit with a prop during a live Broadway show.

The 42-year-old reality star and actor is currently starring on stage in Titanique in the dual role of captain Victor Garber and plumber Luigi, but this week he had an accident performing a stunt which saw him throw a pink ship wheel up into the air and catching it.

Despite having done the scene plenty of times since taking on the roles when the musical parody was off-Broadway in 2018, Frankie has revealed things didn’t go to plan last week.

Days after the accident, he wrote on Instagram: “Serving face, literally!

“In Thursday’s showstopper moment, I launched the wheel into the air… and my nose caught it before my hands did!

“Turns out, being gay doesn’t give me catching superpowers. So, I gave myself a little ‘ouchie’ (okay, maybe a concussion).

“Out of the show ’til tomorrow. Catch soon, my loves!”

Frankie, the brother of megastar Ariana Grande, shared a photo of himself posing with the pink wheel in question, along with a shirtless mirror selfie showing bruising on his nose.

In a third picture, he looked downhearted as he showed off a clearer look at the injury.

The incident came during the I Drove All Night number in the musical, which is a spoof retelling of the 1997 classic Titanic.

The stage show, which uses the music of Celine Dion, is told from the perspective of the pop icon, who sang the movie’s anthem My Heart Will Go On.

The on-stage injury comes months after Frankie had to undergo cervical spine surgery after experiencing “pain and neurological symptoms for a while”.

Back in December, he shared a photo of him lying in a hospital bed, all hooked up to wires and wearing a neck brace, and wrote on Instagram: “Wink if you’re freshly repaired.

“Today I had a planned cervical spine surgery to relieve pressure on nerves in my neck that have been causing pain and neurological symptoms for a while.

“The procedure went exactly as expected, no surprises, no drama (for once), just very precise work by an incredible medical team. (sic)”

The Big Brother star – who was “sore” and “tired” in the aftermath – then detailed what his medical team did during the procedure.

He continued: “They removed bone and tissue that were compressing the nerves, giving my spinal cord, disks, and radiating nerves the space it needs to heal and function properly.”

And he was forced to rest up for a month.

He explained: “Now comes 4 weeks of healing, rest, physical therapy, and being nicer to my body than I usually am. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

“I’m sore, I’m tired, but I’m safe, I’m relieved, and I’m already feeling hopeful. This was a necessary step so I can get back on my feet, back on stage, and back to living fully without pain running the show. (sic)”
