And speaking to E! News at the premiere, Zendaya admitted that her longtime stylish Law Roach had set his sights on the dress years ago.
She said: “Law put this on hold a long time ago. Like, two years ago.”
Zendaya knows that when it comes to her red carpet looks, she can trust Law implicitly.
However, there have been a few occasions when they’ve disagreed and butted heads.
She added: “We’re usually on the same page. We have gone back and forth a few times. It’s family, so that’s how we do it.”
Speaking previously to Teen Vogue magazine about his relationship with Zendaya, Law said he considers her an “annoying little sister” rather than a client.
He added: “She’s also my fashion soul mate. Our relationship has a very give-and-take [dynamic]. Sometimes she doesn’t always love the final choice, but we have this thing where we compromise. Sometimes if she lets me win on hair and makeup, I’ll let her win on the dress the next go around.
“But even if she doesn’t love it, she understands why I love it and why I think it’s the best one. And at this point I have a 99.9% approval rating. We haven’t made that many mistakes so she’s kind of stuck into trusting me, so it’s a beautiful relationship because it is my job to bring her these clothes, and it’s her job to when she is dressed, to get on to the carpet, and to sell it.
“And I think she’s one of the best at getting on the carpet and owning the entire look.”
As for how he ensures he pulls the perfect outfits for his celebrity clients, Law explained that he tries to “get into the psyche” of whoever he is dressing.
He explained: “I research and try to learn everything about them, and look at everything they ever wore — the best things, and even the misses — and I try and figure out why they love those things.
“So when I pull [clothes] for them, I feel like I’m doing it through their eyes. Because it’s not my job to come in as a stylist and change anyone.
“I think it’s my job to come in and just help elevate who they are on the inside.”
