Emma Roberts reveals her wedding ‘skin prep’

Actress Emma Roberts has revealed how she prepared her skin ahead of her wedding – revealing she indulged in “incredible” facials.

The American Horror Story star, 35, tied the knot with Cody John in an outdoor ceremony in Idaho on July 25 and she’s now opened up about how she prepared for her big day – revealing she underwent treatments with celebrity facialist Sarah Ford in Los Angeles.

She told Vogue: “I think that starts with skin prep, which I did with the incredible Sarah Ford in LA. She gives the glow!”

Emma also worked out and toned up by taking classes with Katy Schuele Scanlan of The Sculpt Society. For the big day itself, Emma used make-up artist Kate Synnott, who made her feel like the “prettiest version” of herself, and hair stylist Nikki Lee, while the actress also worked with spiritual mentor Christina Rice to make sure she was feeling mentally prepared for the big day.

She added: “What’s going on inside is just as important prep to me as how you look.”

Emma walked down the aisle in a custom Monique Lhuillier dress and the off-white gown was produced using a tea-stained effect chiffon and she changed into a two-piece from an archive collection comprising a black lace corset top and a tea-length silk organza skirt.

Speaking about her first dress, which took nine months to make and a total of around 1,000 hours, she told the publication: “I did not want a traditional white dress but more of an antique, almost tea-stained white. I had told them I wanted to look like a ghost in photos.

“Monique designed the dress in a way where it literally feels like second skin.”

She added of her second look: “It’s a black lace corset with the most insane skirt from the 2003 runway! I really wanted to change into black for the after-party for a vibe shift.”

Emma previously opened up about the dress she walked down the aisle in during a chat with Vogue.com at her final fitting, admitting: “I didn’t really know what I wanted.

“I just knew that I wanted it to feel very vintage-inspired. I’m obsessed with antique books and treasure hunting, and I love collecting old ephemera, so I really wanted that to shine through in the dress.”
