Beyoncé sued for copyright infringement on Alien Superstar – report

According to TMZ, a company called Hirose Enterprise, and a producer named Shuji Hirose, are asking for unspecified damages from the world-famous singer and various music companies over the track, which featured on Beyoncé’s 2022 album Renaissance.

Beyoncé is being sued for alleged copyright infringement over her song Alien Superstar.

According to TMZ, a company called Hirose Enterprise, and a producer named Shuji Hirose, are asking for unspecified damages from the world-famous singer and various music companies over the track, which featured on her 2022 album Renaissance.

The outlet reported that Hirose are claiming they own the rights to a song called Moonraker, performed by John Holiday, with Beyoncé using the “spoken word introduction” of the tune in Alien Superstar without obtaining a license prior to the album’s release.

Hirose alleged that Beyoncé and her team did later seek a license, but did so only from performer Holiday – not Hirose.

They added that Holiday had transferred his interest in the song decades earlier.

Hirose continued in the court documents to claim that they put Beyoncé and the companies on notice about the alleged infringement, but say they continued to sell Renaissance without making any amendments.

They have now asked a judge to apply an injunction to stop Beyoncé from making money on the track, and are also seeking unspecified damages.

Alien Superstar begins with the introduction: “Please do not be alarmed, remain calm. Do not attempt to leave the dancefloor. The DJ booth is conducting a troubleshoot test of the entire system.”

Before Beyonce kicks in: “I’m one of one, I’m number one, I’m the only one, Don’t even waste your time trying to compete with me (don’t do it), No one else in this world can think like me”.

Speaking previously about the inspiration for Renaissance, Beyoncé told fans in a post on Instagram: “Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world.

“It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving. My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment.

“A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration.”

She added: “I hope you find joy in this music. I hope it inspires you to release the wiggle. Ha! And to feel as unique, strong, and sexy as you are.”
