Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner has confessed there’s only one thing she misses about living in America – revealing she loved the sunshine when she was based in Los Angeles but she’s much happier now she’s moved back to her native UK.
Sophie Turner has confessed the “sun” is the only thing she misses about living in America.
The Game of Thrones star spent years living in Los Angeles, but she’s since moved back to her native UK with her daughters, Willa, six, and Delphine, four, following her split from pop singer Joe Jonas – and Sophie has declared she happier now she’s back in her homeland.
She told The Sunday Morning Herald: “No, I don’t miss living in America. I do miss the sun, but that’s it.”
Sophie went on to reveal she’s happy to be surrounded by all her favourite things now she’s living in the UK – explaining she treasures “sarcasm, baked beans on toast, Jaffa Cakes and British chocolate.”
The actress went on to explain she really missed “pub culture” when she was living in the States, saying: “The thing that I missed the most was pub culture. Especially in spring, when the pubs are rammed and people are spilling out onto the streets and it is all so joyful. I love that gathering of people.
“New York has it, of course, but when I lived in L.A., you’d have to drive everywhere. I missed just wandering down the street and seeing a bunch of people chatting at the pub. To me, that’s England.”
Sophie added that living in the UK again has been helpful both personally and professionally, saying: “It is like a catharsis. I need to do it creatively to process what’s been going on in my life, and to expel something from me.”
It comes after Sophie previously admitted she never wants to move again now she’s settled back in the UK.
She told told Flaunt: “I just feel so at home here; I never want to move again … Living in the States, I didn’t appreciate how much you need friends and family and how integral they are to your wellness until you’re away from them. I came back with an abundance of appreciation for them.”
Sophie also explained she felt as if her life was “on pause” while she was living in America.
She told told Harper’s Bazaar magazine: “Every city we ended up in, the first thing I’d do was find a British shop and stock up on a month’s worth of chocolate …
“[In America] the gun violence, Roe v Wade being overturned … everything just kind of piled on. I’m so happy to be back [in the UK].
“It felt as if my life was on pause until I returned to England. I just never really feel like myself when I’m not in London, with my friends and family. I was away for so long – six years … “
