Kaley Cuoco bought late star John Ritter’s jacket from Three’s Company

Kaley Cuoco attended an auction for the John Ritter Foundation and bought a jacket worn by her late friend on Three’s Company.

The 39-year-old actress paid tribute to her late 8 Simple Rules co-star’s costume from Three’s Company at a special event raising money for the John Ritter Foundation earlier this month.

Kaley took part in a Three’s Company read through with the likes of Adam Devine, Jason Alexander and original cast members Priscilla Barnes and Richard Kline.

The Big Bang Theory star revealed on Instagram that she also bid on his original cast jacket, with the money raised at the Evening From The Heart gala going to the charity.

She wrote: “This foundation has saved many lives and kept John Ritter’s memory alive. I’m always thrilled to be part of it.”

She added: “I bid on John’s original Three’s Company cast jacket and won. I was so thrilled and will cherish forever!”

Ritter died in 2003 aged 54 after a “misdiagnosed acute aortic dissection”.

Kaley has been open about her close bond with her late friend, who she described as touching “a lot of lives” at an event for his foundation in May 2024.

She has stayed close with his wife Amy Yasbeck Ritter and four children Jason, 45, Tyler, 40, Carly, 43, and Noah, 27.

She told PEOPLE magazine at the time: “I will do anything for his wife and his kids. And I’m so really very proud to be here and honouring him.”

Kaley recalled how Ritter even used to deliberately “mess up” during 8 Simple Rules filming just to give the audience an extra laugh.

She said: “He was so funny, and he loved his fans. He was so good. I remember when we were shooting 8 Simple Rules, [he] used to tell me that he would mess up in front of the audience on purpose to make them laugh.

“And I was like, ‘No way!’ And then I would watch him mess up over and over when I knew he knew the scenes, and I took that with me for a long time.

“He didn’t take himself seriously. And I feel like we need to get back to what that is not taking ourselves so seriously.”
