Stylist Law Roach has opened up on working with Zendaya on her various bridal looks as she promoted The Drama.
Law Roach wanted to focus on “storytelling” for Zendaya’s looks on The Drama press tour.
The celebrity stylist, who has a longstanding working relationship with the 28-year-old actress, has opened up about the way her outfits focused on the “old tradition” of “something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue” to tie into her dark comedy with Robert Pattinson.
Speaking to PEOPLE magazine, Law said: “It’s an old tradition that I think a lot of brides play into.
“And since the storyline of the movie is based around a wedding, I think it was just something that we came up with, and it’s about the storytelling.”
Her ‘something old’ was a white Vivienne Westwood gown she first wore to the Oscars in 2015, while her ‘something new’ was a long-sleeved bridal gown from Nicolas Ghesquière and Louis Vuitton, which was fashioned with a train made from a black bow.
She was also seen in a black Giorgio Armani Prive grown wore by Cate Blanchett to last year’s Venice Film Festival (‘something borrowed’), and her ‘something blue’ came in the form of a Schiaparelli dress with bright blue details.
Zendaya told A24 at The Drama’s New York City premiere: “As soon as it came down the runway, I think [Law] knew it was our ‘something blue.'”
Opening up on the 2015 Oscars dress she re-wore, Zendaya previously told Variety: “I was brainstorming with [stylist Law Roach] about how I would theme dress for this film, and I kind of remembered the saying, ‘Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue’.
“So this is my something old! I thought I’d bring it back, and give it a new life. It meant so much to me, this dress.
“[The 2015 Academy Awards] was such an important moment for myself, my community, for my loved ones, and it felt right.
“And it also happens to be a wedding dress, so that works!”
Zendaya and her partner Tom Holland are yet to directly address speculation they have tied the knot, which started after claims from stylist Law.
Last month, he told Access Hollywood: “The wedding has already happened. You missed it.”
When asked if that is “true”, Law, replied: “It’s very true!”
Zendaya recently explained that neither of the pair will confirm whether or not the rumours are true.
Speaking on the New York Times’ Modern Love podcast, she said: “I just feel like for me there is this level of a parasocial investment in my personal relationship.
“I do know that I’m a public person and so is he and I’m also aware that we’ve grown up in front of people and we’ve done movies where we fall in love with each other so I really do understand that and I don’t want to dismiss that like, ‘Stay out of my business’ or whatever.
“In a lot of ways, I’m also a very private person and I try my best to be able to have things for myself and for him as well.”
