Kerry Katona looking and talking ‘differently’ after suspected stroke

Kerry Katona is looking and talking “differently” after she suffered a suspected stroke earlier this month, but the singer and reality TV star admitted she is “loads better”.

Kerry Katona is looking and talking “differently” following a suspected stroke.

The 45-year-old singer was rushed to hospital earlier this month when her face began to change during a day out watching her daughter Molly McFadden, 24, perform in a play, and while she is “loads better”, she still notices some changes about her appearance.

She wrote in her new! magazine column: “I know I’m talking differently and I know my face looks different after my suspected stroke, but it’s actually loads better. It comes and goes. It is what it is.”

Kerry tries not to think about her suspected stroke because she suffers from “severe” health anxiety, which can lead her to “truly panic” if she reads comments about her body.

She added: “I’ve just got to try and not think about it, because I’m the worst hypochondriac in the world. It’s awful for my family, I think they’re all fed up and sick of me at this point.

“I have severe health anxiety, so when I start reading all the comments and I start learning all these new things that could be wrong, it makes me truly panic.”

Last week, Kerry told how she feared she was having a stroke after being rushed to hospital when her face began to change.

Accompanied by her daughter Heidi Katona, 19, and her partner Paolo Margaglione, 45, she initially noticed symptoms during Molly’s play performance before her condition worsened later.

After returning to her hotel and being unable to access a doctor, Kerry travelled to hospital, where she was treated as a suspected stroke patient and transferred by ambulance for further care.

She later underwent scans that ruled out a stroke, with doctors instead identifying a neurological issue linked to stress affecting signals to her face.

Kerry – who also has children Lilly-Sue, 23, Max, 18, and Dylan-Jorge, 12 – told the Daily Mirror: “As the day went on, I didn’t feel well. I went to the toilet and noticed my face wasn’t right. And Heidi was like, ‘Mum, what’s wrong with your face?’

“I started panicking. I discreetly left, went to my hotel and asked to see a doctor. I told the staff, ‘Something’s not right’.

“I got there, and they said, ‘We’re treating this as a stroke’, so they blue-lit me in an ambulance from St Thomas’ to King’s College Hospital.

“They were shining lights in my eyes while my face and speech were getting worse. An hour ago I was watching our Molly in a play and now I’m being treated for a stroke. What the actual f**k It just shows how quickly things can change.”
