Witnesses claim Britney Spears behaved erratically during a dinner outing in Sherman Oaks as the singer continues facing renewed scrutiny over her personal life and recent legal troubles.
Britney Spears is said to have had a knife-wielding meltdown at a restaurant while barking like a dog.
The troubled 44-year-old pop star – whose turbulent personal life has continued to attract intense scrutiny following the end of her conservatorship and the success of her memoir The Woman in Me – was reportedly the centre of attention at the Blue Dog Tavern in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles on Wednesday (13.05.26) evening, with the incident being reported on Thursday.
Britney allegedly sparked alarm among diners during a late-night visit to the restaurant, with witnesses claiming the singer shouted, barked and wandered through the venue carrying a knife just days after reportedly leaving rehab and resolving a recent DUI case.
According to TMZ and witness accounts later reported by the Daily Mail, Britney appeared visibly agitated during the outing and drew concern from staff and customers inside the restaurant.
Witnesses claimed the singer raised her voice throughout the evening, made barking noises and at one point walked past diners while holding a knife.
Sources told the outlets patrons became worried she could accidentally hurt someone, although no injuries or threats were reported.
Restaurant staff were also said to have intervened after Britney allegedly lit a cigarette near the entrance to the venue. One source told reporters the atmosphere inside the restaurant became tense as diners slowly realised the disturbance was allegedly coming from the Grammy-winning singer herself.
Witnesses also claimed Britney shared food with a man accompanying her and was overheard telling him: “I love you.”
Another diner reportedly described the scene beneath Britney’s table as looking “like a toddler had been there”, while others said untouched food and drinks remained scattered around the table by the end of the evening.
According to sources, Britney ordered a burger and fries but mainly ate the fries, leaving several items – including what appeared to be orange juice – untouched.
The incident comes amid another turbulent period in Britney’s public life, with reports claiming she recently completed a three-week stay at a substance abuse rehabilitation facility before pleading guilty to a DUI-related offence connected to an arrest earlier this year.
Britney has also remained a constant subject of online discussion in recent months due to topless Instagram posts, videos of her dancing at home and ongoing speculation surrounding her relationship with family members following the end of the conservatorship that controlled much of her life for 13 years.
Britney was also reportedly absent from a recent family gathering celebrating the high school graduation of her niece Maddie Aldridge, 16, the daughter of Jamie Lynn Spears.
Photographs published by the Daily Mail showed Britney’s mother Lynne Spears, father Jamie Spears, sister Jamie Lynn and son Sean Preston Federline attending the celebration alongside other relatives.
Family sources previously told outlets Lynne contacted Britney after her March arrest to offer support.
Sources also claimed Britney spoke with her sons Sean Preston and Jayden Federline after returning home.
The pair moved to Hawaii in 2023 with their father Kevin Federline following a period of estrangement from Britney.
